Two rival gangs are having a fierce street fight...?

they brought knives, bats, chains etc and many members are dieing. The cops come and try to stop it but there were too many of them and the cops couldn't do anything. All of a sudden someone yells one word and they all stopped immediately and walked away.

Which martial art is more effective for street fights : UFC or K1?

i don't know either of them, but i would think either of them

Which martial art is more effective for street fights : UFC or K1?
You are better off avoiding street fighting. Nothing good will come of it.
Reply:Probably UFC. K1 has a lot more rules in it, they cannot fight on the ground like in UFC. Lots of street fight end up in the ground.
Reply:neither is a "martial art" but i get what ur asking. being a black belt in tae kwan do i probably have a bias toward K1, but gotta admit ufc fighters are more well-rounded for street brawls. u gotta have the wrestling grappling skills in a street fight. personally, my feet and hands are quick and strong enuf to fend off a wrestler, but if i were to be taken down, i can see wer i'd be at a disadvantage.
Reply:i would think a browning 9mm vastly more effective than either of them.
Reply:Most martial arts are for defense, when all else fails...not offense.

Don't learn it if you can't understand the dicipline.
Reply:how many people actually street fight these days? all these cowards do is grab a gun. their to scared to street fight. but if i had to choose one, i'd probably sa y UFC.
Reply:U.F.C , MIXED MARTIAL ARTS,and jun fan jit kun do.(if your in America you lucky Bastard.)
Reply:nether, kick them in the nuts and hit them with a bottle. worked for me on more than one occasion.
Reply:Their both organizations not martial arts. But if you are asking which one is closer to a streetfight, UFC is because the fight can go to the ground as well as standing up. K1 is just kickboxing.
Reply:as a bouncer and a minder, i find my boxing skills more use full than any other technique that i have trained in, with martial arts you need space to move about. this in my mind makes me be leave in my boxing skills for my fist and movement and Thai boxing for the use of my legs, elbows and holds. it is also worth noting that most of UFC is taken to the floor for grappling, if this happens on the street you will lose,
Reply:with out doubt u f c and pridefc fighter are more equiped for street fights but that doesnt mean k1 fighters cant adapt many have done, look up mark hunt and mirko cro cop and ull see that k1 fighter can fight in mma

What's your favorite Vince McMahon WM Street Fight?

X-Seven vs. Shane McMahon

XIX vs. Hulk Hogan

22 vs. Shawn Michaels

Also, of these 3, which WM promo was funnier 22's "McMahon Family Prayer" or 23's "She just took a Trump!" or "Get me a sandwich"?

What's your favorite Vince McMahon WM Street Fight?
Mr. McMahon vs. Hulk Hogan---Wrestlemania XlX...Just seeing the two innovators of the WWF go at it was great...Never thought I'd see that match...

Wrestlemania 22 promo was the best...."God I don't like you, and you don't like me..." hahahahahaha....
Reply:SHANE

Jsut for the ending, the pop when Lynda stood up and when Mick came into the ring was great. Another amazing match that night.

And Shane, my god that Coast to Coast was incredible.
Reply:22 vs HBK it was just so coollll...

22 "mcmahon family prayer"
Reply:had to be shane

trish lukes smoking that night and a great slap highlight of the ppv 4 me =p
Reply:22 vs. shawn michles was an amazing match
Reply:Vs HBK.

The only reason the street fight with Shane was good was becuase of all the gimmicks, but the wrestling itself was week. Shane showed off the Coast to Coast, so I guess that was cool, but I would have rather they just let RVD keep that move instead of having to watch tubby boy Shane do it.

But HBK is always amazing to watch, and Hogan just sucks period.
Reply:22 vs Shawn Michaels i loved it when he did a 16 foot jump to vince through a tabble and vince had a trash can on his head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Shane because Father vs Son
Reply:HBK NO DOUBT THAT WAS VERY GOOD TO WATCH

Who would win in a bare knuckle street fight, Pat Sayjak or Alex Trebek?

Alex for sure. Pat has been pu$sified by Vanna

Who would win in a bare knuckle street fight, Pat Sayjak or Alex Trebek?
Alex.
Reply:Pat Sayjak. He is much younger and, he gains strength from spinning that big wheel all day.
Reply:Alex, cause Pat is a girly-man.
Reply:Alex Trebek, after all he is Canadian.
Reply:Trebek wouldn't have to lift a finger. He could reduce Sayjak to a mound of quivering jelly with his sharp tongue and quick wit.

There's just no comparison!
Reply:Neither one. They'd both worry about their hair getting out of place.
Reply:ALex. He looks like one bad mo-fo to me
Reply:Alex Trebek!
Reply:Chuck Norris

Nah I gotta go with Alex Trebek, or as I like to call him, Kebert Xela
Reply:What about Bob Barker because he will take them all down
Reply:pat! ain't he younger????

Have you ever been in a real street fight against more than one person?

Basically have you ever been jumped by like a dozen guys before blind siding you and what did you do or how did it turn out for you?

Have you ever been in a real street fight against more than one person?
YES unfortunately ONCE in my life.

I was young and it was New Years eve and I was at a public teen dance club with my best friend. This was back in 1988 it was that long ago.

Well any ways one of the guys there did not like me because I was dating his ex girlfriend and I knew something was up because he kept staring at me I just did not know what he had in mind.

Well after new years was over my friend and I left and as we were walking by a section where people can stand behind unseen I was smacked across the face and my friend attacked also. It was my GF's ex and about 7+ of his friends, I cannot be sure how many to be exact.

They only hit me ONCE. Their sneak shot and that was it. i was young and only 17 but I was still a BB in Kenpo and lucky I was. I was NEVER wrestled to the ground, I was never hit anywhere else besides my arms or legs. I used the guy that was my GF's ex as a shield by grabbing him and when they struck at me they would hit him often. He soon stopped trying to grapple me.

Finally I had a chance to check on my best friend and he was lying on the ground in a pool of blood but was moving. I had to get away from them to help him. No one there seemed to care and no cops were around. I fended them off alone and managed to get my friend to his feet and dragged him to the city police station not far from us where we filed a report, then took a drive with them and found 7 of them while the cops drove us around to round them up.

We pressed simple assault charges and they had to do community service for it.

I DO NOT condone fighting, but I DO condone defending yourself and your friends and family.

Ten years later I was in Amsterdam, Netherlands and my friend was so out of it from partying all eve he was staring in a zone on the bus back to our locale where we were staying, me him, and two young ladies. Well his staring pissed off a local apparently for when we got off the bus he followed us and started yelling at my friend and started to approach him. I had an umbrella in my hands. I allowed the man to yell all he wanted at my friend but he noticed real fast every time he took a step toward my friend I took a closer step to him so I would have intervened at that rate. Once he noticed this and that I was NOT messed up like my friend but very awake and alert and had that umbrella ready to open up in his butt if I had too. He finished his yelling and backed away.

No one was hurt. So it is possible to prevent a fight just by standing your groung but not throwing the first punch. You have to know when to stand your ground, know when to back down, and when to walk away. Never should you count on winning a fight or starting one because no matter what anyone says you get hurt in it as well almost every time be it your hand, wrist, fingers. you end up bruising something on yourself, rarely do you ever walk away unscathed so why bother!!

so those are two of my four experiences. NONE but that first was ever a fight though, the other three I prevented via awareness and wit alone. Be fast with your hands sure, but be faster with your brain and wits and you will save your butt far more many time!!!
Reply:no, fighting is bad
Reply:...no. If you have then MAYBE you should be a nicer person :P
Reply:not me, but my friend has jumped someone with lots of people, and got arrested for lynching
Reply:no but my friends boyfriend did back in korea! they were fighting over her!
Reply:well 1 time when i was 15 .. 4 guys beat me up in the bath room next week i went to each one of their houses and beat them 1 by 1.. thats how i can beat people 1 by 1 ( sometimes lol..)
Reply:on my 16th birthday I got followed home by these 3 hobos and one jumped for me and fell over so I kicked him in gthe goolies and ran off.

Does that count?
Reply:no i never have i think fights are kinda stupid and what's the point of having one if one side is going to cheat and get about 12 guys to jump you it should be a fair one on one deal

i have gotten into fights before though but not with 12 people at once and won all of them considering there were only 3 of them
Reply:Yes, it is no fun at all and the paperwork is hell afterwards!
Reply:i got jumped by 3 men when i was 15. scariest moment of my life! im a small girl and it only took 2 to take me down. but i kept kicking and screaming my head off. i have taken self defense classes and i hit one of them with the heel of my palm under then chin and kicked one of them right in the balls. haha but someone came and helped me so i guess is wasnt really a street fight.
Reply:yea this has happened to me...i got jumped in town one night by myself...im a female but i can kick some ***...there was nine girls that jumped me...i went for the weaker ones first to distract the other ones...once i got them down and the stronger ones paying attention to them i used thier forces on themselves...i would dodge one of them that was attempting to punch me and then they would end up punching the one holding me so they all ended up getting knocked out and thats how it ended...now im the badass in town...its not always good to show your strength...then everybody wants to mess with you....
Reply:yup! lots a times.
Reply:Jumped by five guys on a picket line.. Blind sided at first went down and another came to kick me I reach up and grabbed his go nads a squeezed till he passed out. Took anothe glancing shot to the head but did not knock me over. Kicked another guy in the groin he went down I than turned around as a guy was swinging the baseball bat at me.. I took it away from him and swung it and broke his right leg (at the knee) I hit the other guy on the left arm and I know I broke it..... The last guy ran away.... I called the cops and they all got arrested for attempted murder (it was later dropped to simple assalt) The cops smiled. All six were hard cases from the Teamsters... I was (retired now) an operating engineer... Not really a tough guy but felt like I was fighting for my life... Grant M in Pennsylvania
Reply:Got in a fight .. 3 of us against 5 of them.. it was started when a guy slapped me... I knocked him out in one punch... pounded on another guy for a sec then one of their friends jumped at me from the side... I got an elbow into his chin and before I could get a punch off the bouncer pulled me out... I had enough wits about me to not hit the bouncer so they just let me leave for the night.. No big deal lol. But that's not good.. I've worked my whole life to try and control my very fierce Irish temper.. and it got the better of me that night.
Reply:some times u do what u gotta do. if he's really your "friend" then help him beat those haters up. that's what i would do...
Reply:Been jumped more than once by a few guys as I've cut through the Boston Common, and as I passed through the Charles River parks, both day %26amp; night, summer %26amp; winter. And always by black guys. I haven't been jumped or attempted mugged by white guys in over 25 years.

When you get attacked by more than one person you quickly realize how important it is to take a guy out as fast as humanly possible. And how advantageous it is to have a weapon to aid in diposing of a creep.

That is why I respect the realism of Kung fu with its finger strikes to the eyes, and the spear-hand to the throat of Karate. Jiu-jitsu's wristlocks are excellent to down a guy real quick so you can dispose of his buddy next.

Sometimes I've used Judo (OGoshi, Koshi Guruma, O Soto Gari) to down a guy while I move on my second attacker with hand strikes, then return to the other clown to finish him off (break his fingers, etc.). Then quickly leave the scene or else you will get hauled off to jail for successfully defending yourself (legal system really sucks).

I refuse to be intimidated by punks and always walk through the same path the next day going to and from work or dojo. But never tell anybody of those experiences.
Reply:******* 12 people run! You got nothing to prove they're too pussy to face your friend one on one so they gang up. They know they can't lose 12-1! But if it does happen and you can't run, aim for the balls and the throat. No joke no matter how strong someone is they still have a vulnerable dick and throat. and 12-1 they don't deserve sympathy/mercy
Reply:Yes :)*

Who do you think would win a street fight jesus or super man?

Jesus without lifting a finger.

Who do you think would win a street fight jesus or super man?
jesus rules over all.
Reply:JESUS! Only two people who can't lose in this wold: JESUS AND GOD. FACE IT!
Reply:jesus
Reply:Jesus
Reply:neither, they'd just shake hands and walk away.
Reply:Thats easy JESUS cause he can come back from death, and could turn a rock into kryptonite. Next question!!
Reply:well thats a good question every time super man would kill jesus he would just come bac to life so i say jesus
Reply:Jesus wouldn't fight. Jesus is Mr. Turn the Other Cheek. So Superman, if he were dead set on hurting Jesus, would end up winning the street fight. But, in the end, Jesus would win, because you can't go to Heaven after you've beat up Jesus, and Superman would burn.
Reply:What kind of ques was that can u compare super man with jesus i dont understand u fax me straight
Reply:super man will drop kick jesus haha
Reply:jesus, i saw him fight 2 midgets with a blind fold and no pants once, he won and one of the midgets gave birth during the fight, the midget was male but gave birth to jesus thus making him the winner
Reply:Can superman make water into wine? Enough said!

Is Nihon Goshin Aikido effective in a street fight?

it is all in how you train. if you train for practical fighting, then you will fight in a practical way giving you room to dance

But if you train in a dance form, then you will have a hard time fighting in a practical way . hope this helps

Is Nihon Goshin Aikido effective in a street fight?
always down to the man not the system. depending on your experience or lack of,sounds like you are lacking somwhere by the calibre of the question.work harder and you will know the answer to this question[train hard, fight easy] quote from rick young,if you dont know him tough.
Reply:The most common criticism of aikido is that it suffers from a lack of realism in training.
Reply:some of aikidos knife drills would be very handy if trained realistically.

The general consensus amongst us grapplers is the unarmed grappling Aikido does, lets itself down by not having realistic sparring.

Simply all of us, greco wrestlers, judo guys, BJJ guys kick aikido guys asses any time we go into their clubs.

Then we get told not to come back because we do not 'let the blackbelts throw us'.

...And that is the problem with aikido sparring. it would be a lot better if they cut all the BS and just sparred.
Reply:I dont know about that kind of aikido, but i train in tenshin aikido and it can teach you things if you train in it long enough like how to take people down with knifes staffs and if your really good multiple attackers with weapons... but so far I've been in it for like 3-4 months now and i can take down like 2-3 of my friends without even hardly trying. were just messing around though. I've never used it in a fight.

Who would win a no holds barred street fight between Bill Clinton and George W. Bush?

Tough one...Bush is younger and in better shape, but I'll bet once Clinton realized he couldn't talk his way out of it, he'd reach back to his roots and fight dirty, hillybilly-style. I'd say Bush wins a pyrrhic victory, coming out of the Octagon with a bloody nose, half-gouged eye, ruptured testicle, and missing a clump of hair, whereas Clinton lies dead on the ground from a shattered windpipe (or maybe a shotgun blast from Cheney). Then later on, Roger Clinton would spark a decades-long feud with a revenge killing of Jeb Bush. Finally, Laura and Hillary, as matriarchs of the two clans, would meet to discuss ending the feud in around 2060, and Hillary would stab her in the back while shaking her hand, with a cold steely look in her eye. After being taken to jail, she'd admit in her confession statement that she did it to avenge her 2008 Presidential hopes, not her husband.

Who would win a no holds barred street fight between Bill Clinton and George W. Bush?
amen Report It

Reply:Clinton. But I'd rather see Hillary and Laura in a street fight.
Reply:"W", hands down. Bill has health problems, "W" is in good shape.
Reply:W would probably talk alot of s-hit and then when it came time for it, he'd run away. Clinton would talk his way out of it.
Reply:clinton would win, since bush's head is always in his ***
Reply:Cliton............he doen't like Bush cause it gets in the way.........
Reply:bill clinton,if he can handle monnica,im pretty sure he could handle little george !!!!!!!
Reply:Bush would win , he is in better physical shape... though Clinton would try to cheat his way out, or have Hillary finish the fight for him...then he could say " I did not have a fight with that man!"... ala Monica lewinski...lol...
Reply:W is obviously in far better physical shape than Bill. However street fighting is about more than just physical condition. One must also consider experience and will. My guess is that W had a few scrapes in his younger heavy drinking days. On the other hand Bill was hanging out at Oxford and not even inhaling so he was pretty much a pantywaist. W became a pilot so he had some physical conditioning there. Bill left the country. W jogs, rides bicycles, and plays golf to relieve stress. Bill was known for sneaking out for a double cheeseburger or staying in and playing with interns. My last observation is that W wears the pants in the Bush family while Hillary obviously calls the shots for Bill.

So I think the fight would go down like this:

Bill comes out talking trash. W punches him right in the gut. Bill blows chow and can't catch his breath. W starts to brag about having Bill on the run, but wait...

Hillary has entered the ring and she looks pissed. Bill is on his knees gasping for air. He's clutching his chest. W is backing in circles and stuttering as he tries to reason with Hillary. She doesn't even hear a word she is full steam ahead. OUCH! That was below the belt! Hillary has K O'd W with a mean FAR LEFT punch to his conservative region. Uh oh, just when it looked like it was all over here comes Cheney with a shotgun. He's got that crooked smile and a gleam in his eye. Hillary is trying to hide behind Bill, but Bill is pushing her away. Cheney is shouldering his firearm. Wait, Jimmy Carter has entered the ring. "Can't we all be friends? There's no need for bloodshed." pleads Jimmy. Cheney is turning on him. It looks like a standoff. Cheney is lowering his weapon. Secret Service men are leading him away in handcuffs. Bill is trying to make a speech: "I feel my pain. This is a result of right wing media bias. This is racism. I demand a rematch."

Well folks there you have it. It looks like a split decision. Both fighters were knocked down. There is no clear winner here. The crowd looks confused. They don't know who to root for. Folks we need a champion. The crowd is beginning to chant "ARNOLD! ARNOLD! ARNOLD!"
Reply:Clinton. Bush got his *** beat by a pretzel in his first term. He's a Wuss. Clinton would break his scrawny, girly neck. guess, you'd call that a knockout, right?
Reply:superman
Reply:Bush
Reply:George can beat Bill in the first round,K.O. Bill spend too much time for ...

But his Tiger can beat george's little sweet heart within second.

What is your favorite move in a street fight...?

Please know what you're talking about

What is your favorite move in a street fight...?
I duck under and throw a left hook. Everyone throws that right crazy haymaker, so I immediately get ready to duck under and throw the left... After that I take 'em down, mount, and throw the elbows until he submits... If I'm angry, I'll go after his arms (arm lock, Shoulder lock)...

I fought a lefty one time, and he threw the left and I threw the hook and we both missed, then we both threw and we both hit, haha...
Reply:Pull their hat or bandana in front of their eyes. Beat their face in. Simple way to kick someones ***. haha. I haven't tried it, but I've seen it.
Reply:The windmill. I do capoeira and when I get the guy in a daze I go for it swinging my legs and knocking him down then flip my knee on his chest before I get back up..
Reply:eye gouging
Reply:I saw a guy throw a spare tire for a huge truck at another guy's head. fight over.

I also watch a guy get his a@# beaten with a pair of flip flops, I was embarrassed for him.

These are my two favs.
Reply:If I ever get in one I'll let you know.
Reply:Swift punch to the throat.
Reply:Triangle choke....
Reply:Headbutts, you can do them while facing and not facing... But depends on the situation and why I'm in the fight...
Reply:Dont fight what are in high school.....
Reply:Thumbs in the eyes
Reply:Depends on the situation

Personally I would use mostly jab/reverse punches as they are my best technique and they are easy and versatile. If I was in a street fight I would stick to my best and most basic moves so I could apply them to any situation.
Reply:I've got 2 fave moves:

1. Knife to the throat

2. The hasty retreat.
Reply:the jab
Reply:Avoiding the fight.
Reply:Rear dressed choke....
Reply:My fav move is the corkscrew or the butterfly kick in a streetfight.

Has anyone used Karate in a real street fight?

How did it go??? Just wondering.

Has anyone used Karate in a real street fight?
No because I never studied karate.

I have however used the martial arts I've studied (with the exception of swordsmanship and knife fighting) in a fight.

I have used a jutte to defend myself in a questionable situation that in retrospect I probably shouldn't have.

I have used boxing in a fight with success.

I have used wrestling in a fight with success to avoid being tackled and to slap on a lock to control my opponent. Grappling was the more diplomatic option.

I have also used a good elbow strike from my more recent CMA training to hit someone who while "playing peacock" got threateningly too close that ultimately avoided a fight and took the bravado off this guy who probably just had one too many (well avoided punches being thrown at me).

EDIT:

I'm disappointed at the people who gave sloar, a thumbs down. I think he and his answer is probably very accurate and it is an accurate statement about the reality of the low quality of training and rampant appearance of mcdojos and black belt factories that hand these awards out to anyone who does a few dance moves and breaks some plywood.

I've heard "old timers" say that back in the day they didn't award a black belt to someone unless not only have they mastered the techniques, but in the opinion of the teacher, that they could handle themselves in a real fight.

If someone were to tell me they were a black belt quite honestly I would probably go easy on them because I wouldnt' take him as seriously. Anyone who is going to really be one that deserves the rank and can fight- is not going to give away valuable tactical information like that regarding his ability. in short- unless you know them personally (that they are a black belt) then they are lying or they are a "fake" black belt.
Reply:a few of the 8 point blocks thats about it.They work very well.
Reply:yeah, I learned how to use a sword and I beat a kid with a pole like it was the sword. I said "haa" yah when I chopped him in his leg.
Reply:i have smashed alot of guys in the street who are black belts.

in that sport , but thats probably cause they didnt have their pyjamas on and didnt get time to scraem K I ....

Karate is a joke
Reply:I had some fool go down to break a beer bottle so he could stab me with it, but I hit him about 5 times before he came back up, he couldnt run away fast enough the little coward.
Reply:I used some of the blocks, gave the guy a roundhouse kick in the head and an axe kick to the nads. Didn't kill him, knock him out, or anything but it made him realize continuing the fight would not be a good idea. And that's what self defense is all about. It's about ending the fight quickly and with minimal personal injury to you.
Reply:Yes I have, and I'm still alive and practing martial arts. Remember that with the martial arts, you will only get out of it what you put into it.
Reply:Nope. Just to avoid a few.
Reply:Not a street fight, but an attacker who broke into my house. It worked, he fled, or tried to, when he got my bedroom door open he was met by my dog. Wasn't pretty.

The skills you learn in Martial Arts are less important than the mind set it gives you. I can't tell you what moves I used on that guy, but I can remember thinking fairly clearly for being under attack at 2 am. The cops were amazed that I fought him off, and later told me that I broke 4 fingers and had hit, but not broken his nose. Made sense to me, I love to target the nose and finger locks are my most feared move at the dojo!
Reply:Not me personally, but I knew this guy nicknamed "Bulldog" back in college. He was a weightlifter, was 5' 10" weighed 0ver 200lbs and had a blackbelt in Karate(Shotokan I think). He was one bad cat. One day during a birthday party at the beach, our group got into a rumble with a group of skinny street punks who had too much to drink and were rowdy as hell. Bulldog jumped into the fray and started kicking their a$ses and was doing a pretty good job until one of the punks picked up a rock the size of a shoe and hurled it straight into his face, it goes without saying it stopped him d3ad in his tracks. After major surgery to repair his nose, jaw and cheekbone, Bulldog now looks exactly like his namesake. Moral of the story: Why throw punches when you can hurl rocks?
Reply:Many times, work as a bouncer every now and then to keep techniques sharp. Have used them on the street about 7 times when couldn't avoid confrontation.
Reply:I love these questions because everyone says something like...

"Yeah! I single handedly defeated 10 guys who were twice as big as me!"

I personally don't practice Karate, but I saw these awesome videos where Karate guy fights and wins with one strike.

Let me explain in words how some of them went...

For the first one, there was this pimp beating his "girl" up and black belt Karate master came up and told him to stop. The pimp didn't know he was a karate master so he just lunged at him. Druing to process, the karate master uses a quick strike to the pressure point and the pimp falls to the ground and is unable to get up...

Man... I loved that video!
Reply:Ya a dude tried to choke me.I droped him with a side kick and beat the snot out of him. That sissy couldnt stop puken. Haha it was great.

Do an above average amount of teenage street fights occur in bakersfield california?

whats it like growing up there?

Do an above average amount of teenage street fights occur in bakersfield california?
My guess is that it would be lower than average. Bakersfield is a rather conservative community. It is in part of the central valley's bible belt. Neither the Bakersfield Police Department, nor the Kern County Sheriff's Department would have any tolerance for street fights, teenage or other wise. The courts are very hard on criminals, and criminal activity. As for what is it like living there, it is a moderate sized town which depends on oil and agriculture for its existence. You could easily come to believe that you were living in small town in Texas.
Reply:It depends what part of town you live in. We have some not so nice parts of town where there are gangs and I'm sure fights. Which move is the best in a street fight?

yup yup

Which move is the best in a street fight?
The best street fighting tactics would be either the "eye jab" to temporarily blind your attacker so you can follow through with something else. To do this have your hands up at your chest level and talk with your hands so you don't telegraph your intent to attack. Also attack in mid phrase or sentence. Lets say your phrase is "I dont want any trouble" once you begin saying the word "any" finger jab his eyes.

The "shin kick" or "knee stomp" are also good areas. Both areas can not be conditioned regardless of how big your attacker is. Even if your attacker is a thai boxer who conditions his shins it will hurt him bad by getting kicked with a pair of shoes on (or boots). This will stop him dead in his tracks so you can follow through with another tactic. Regarding "stomping on the knee" or side or back of it follows the same principle. Also the bigger the attacker the more weight that is distributed onto the knee making it easier for you to drop him down to the ground. You only need 12 pounds of pressure to crush a knee.

Another tactic is the "drink throw" tactic simply throw your drink into your attacker face. Lets say it was coffee you would burn him and be able to follow through or get away after you have thrown the drink. If it is just a drink of pop or alcohol it would impair his vision for a few seconds giving you time to follow through with a stomp to the side of the knee.

if you want a chance at winning, rush into it and give it all you have. dont stop till you cant do it anymore or they drop. what have you got to lose? you will lose if you stand there, and dodging attacks only continues the drama. get it on, and get it over.

fighting is not turn based. the winner at any given moment is the person attacking the other. the loser is the one moving back trying to defend.

if you get attacked, hold your forearms up to protect your face and throat and charge them, once they are unable to attack you because you are too close they will have to move... away, and you will already be attacking. this gives them limited chance to hurt you.

of course, everyone is different, and you may encounter someone that fights the same.

norm (above) has some sound advice. especially having the hands up. always look like you dont want a part of it. holding up fists will give your game away. fake, lie, cheat... and overload the opponent through a quick attack. I knee stomp, and love it. if you people only do one kick and hope it is over you are a monkey, for you must surely be in advance mode and have more attacks coming through. better to overkill, than to count your chicken before they have hatched.

deception is the true god of warfare. and if you think that it is dirty fighting, well I say that ALL unwanted fighting is dirty, so fight fire with fire. dont fight to your opponents advantage, fight to your own.

remember, street fighting isnt like chess. if you fight you, me, you, me. then I will smash you. do not ever allow your enemy to regain his cognitive strategy. overload through attacking continuously.

blah blah. sermon over...

Reply:Yes I would. Bagua Zhang, If applied correctly, is one of the most devastating Martial Arts known to man. Much Like Tai Chi and Hsing Yi, This art uses the practitioners total body mass. This means that if the practitioner weighs 100lbs then that weight plus the power that can be generated by the muscles are added together for each technique. The only problem is that it takes a while to be able to get these techniques to the point that they can be effective. Practice practice practice. Many people want instant results and won't take the time to learn these valuable skills. If you do get it down though, you will know where that training went.

Good Luck

What are some good moves to use in a real street fight?

I don't want to avoid it and I have made the decision that I want to go through with it. I a kid yesterday and noticed he kept backing down and lowered his head when ever I swung big. What can I do to just beat him in a fight and knock him out?

What are some good moves to use in a real street fight?
Cheat. Bite or hit him when hes not looking. Always get the first punch.
Reply:You can use the escort move when someone punches you catch their wrist turn to the side and bend their hand down wards toward the inside of their arm. Or you could jab your index and middle finger down in between their shoulder and neck which will cause their arm to go numb for a while.

Also get behind the guy and pinch your thumb and index finger over their nose and use the rest of your hand to cover their mouth they will lose conscience in under 3 min.

If you get the chance use the chance use your knuckles and quickly hit their throat this will cause your opponent to gasp for air which gives you good chances to get some punches in on them.Use blinding powders to for a quick and easy one to make use pepper, salt, garlic salt, onion powder, and cinnamon if you get this in their eyes it will blind them for 5-10 min depending on dose. I have been studying ninjutsu for over 8 years now so i think this would be helpful.
Reply:your all p.u.s.s.i.e.s.fighter fags.............
Reply:Something thats pretty hard to dodge is to throw uppercuts to the other person's stomach to knock the wind out of him. One of the most effecive things to do is throw punches straight to his nose. I've never used this in a real fight, just play fights with my friends, but you can try charging him, grabbing his legs, pulling them back and tackling him with your shoulder. Then repeatedly elbow or punch his face and knee him in the side of his stomach. If he tries to push you away with his arms you can also knee him on that little ball thing in his armpit. Pressure points work pretty well but they don't work on certain people. The goal isn't always to knock the person out, but just to make them look bad. Just DON'T kick him in the balls. It will make you look like a total wimp. If any of your friends are in karate they can show you some hella good moves.
Reply:hit him in the groin, break his knee cap, hit him in the throat.
Reply:why punch when you can kick?

kick in the nuts and a kick to the knee will end it fast. be prepared to have your parent sued for 10s of thousands of $ when you blow out his knee.
Reply:watch an episode of Dragon Ball-Z or maybe the PowerRangers..you might pick up a few tricks there? Otherwise go train at a real school or gym. You seriously think your gonna get a good answer from the internet?
Reply:legs sweep mount and ground and pound

dont be a p.u.s.s.i.e. and throw sh*t in their eyes or knee to the groin thats just lame and and everyone will think you are a huge p.u.s.s.i.e. so basically jabs are for distraction so if u want do a jab jab then a right cross then do a jab jab then fake the right cross and do a left hook after that let them step towards you while they are steeping towards u take ur right leg curl it behind their left leg and push them backwards while lifting the their left leg wiht ur right they will fall so jump on and mount throw elbows and punches go for nose or temples itll knock the FuCCCC out of them and then u need to get ur A.S.* out of there before cops or his backup arrives
Reply:Street Fight=No Rules. Kick him in the nuts, when he goes down kick him in the head and then just start beating the hell out of him.
Reply:If your opponent tends to lower his head when you swing big, you need to use that to your advantage.

Fake a haymaker (big swinging punch) and wait for him to start dipping his head. When it starts to happen, move in and uppercut. As soon as the uppercut is done, lock your hands around the back of his head and start throwing knee strikes into his face and chest.

Trust me, it works.
Reply:MUAY THAI LEARNINGS OF THE 8 LIMBS open your hand as if to do a karate chop like amatuers do and pull back and keep hand open and hit his crown its a 95% KO/ concussion result

lol i just made up the percentage but yeh elbow him or seeing he lowered his head when you swung big man lay into him with the upper cuts and just keep going then if he pops up left hook(if your uppercutting with your right then work the hooks although these are energy eaters they are very effective

I've heard the BJJ is the best for a street fight. If true hows does it help you against multiple attackers?

In this day and age it is likely that a fight will have multiple attackers. I've have witness this since the 80's. I work in the schools and this is normail today. You may see anywhere from 2 to 1 all the way to 10 against 1.

Does BJJ prepare you for this? Please explain how?

Does it jut prepare you for the cage and MMA?

I do find MMA very entertaining. I also like watching boxing, judo, karate, TKD, kung fu, and WWE. I like watching many competitive activities.

I've heard the BJJ is the best for a street fight. If true hows does it help you against multiple attackers?
I've been to a few of seminars with Royler Gracie and we have an inside joke with him. Almost every time he comes to one of our schools, someone waits till the seminar is almost over then asks "So Royler, how do I defend against multiple attackers?"

To which he smiles, laughs, then says "Get a bat."
Reply:It isn't ideal for multiple attackers, and it has never been claimed to be a good route against multiple attackers.

It a straight up 1 on 1 fight, with no weapons, which is THE most common thing to happen, it is proven, and it has been caught on tape many times.

Just search youtube.
Reply:There's also some things that you would do in a Jiu Jitsu competition but never in a street fight - like pull guard!
Reply:nope, multiple attackers is a no-no

if you fight one with his friends there, be sure to stay on top incase he comes and tries to do something to you.

Every martial art has it's flaw, jiujitsu isn't perfect.
Reply:it is good for 1 on 1 but doesn't help you abit when it comes to multiple attackers. Aikido is good for multiple attackers
Reply:all the answers has same perspective.

If you attacked by more than 3 persons, the ideal way is get a tools (like bat or knife); scream for help and run; or learn a self defense system properly and keep calm outside.

BJJ is made for one on one condition. Aikido and Tae Kwon Do (both when you enter black belt or above) are more likely ready against multiple attackers. Off course you should have a very good speed and not to get panic. other martial arts like kung fu, also need speed to help you in this kind of situation.
Reply:10 on 1 is kinda bad if your a BJJ blackbelt. But really it's great 4 self defence if you use it in a street fight your not really using BJJ cause thats not why it's taught. self defence only, other than for competition, i don't see why you would use it ina fight because your on the ground alot... i got bit in a fight when i got a guy in a guillotine choke so if your bjj in a street fight watch for a eye gouge, inted of a tap out.

you don't see an gracies in the ring or octagon cause BJJ takes time to preform and to use on the ground..

Renzo Gracie said that he only has 5 mins in an octagon, thats not enough.
Reply:First let me say this. There is a differance between a street fight and self defense. A street fight is a clash of 2 ego's, and genearally takes a while to get to that stage, and 99.9% can be avoided. The other .1% that cannot be resolved peacefully is self defense.

BJJ is probably very effective in a street fight where your goal is to win. Generally if 2 guy's go at it like this it will be one on one. The crowd don't like interferance. If they do then the BJJ guy is probably screwed.

The main goal in SELF DEFENSE is to survive, period. Most self defense happens because your assailant(s) wants something from you, generally your money or valubles, or other things in the case of females. The last thing you want in these situations is to be on the ground fighting. Somebody attacking you for your valubles is more likely to have a weapon, with the knife probably being the weapon of choice. Do you want to be on the ground trying to lock in a triangle when the femoral artery is open to him?

The goal of self defense is survival, pure and simple. I will actually give up my car, wallett etc. in a heartbeat, and this is all most criminals are interested in. He is not going to hang around to fight with you, he wants it quick and clean.

I know that BJJ claims it teaches stand up, but I have never seen a good example of it. I remember Royce Gracie in the first UFC and his stand up(what little I saw) was laughable. I say this as a person who has trained for 18 years, and seen many different people and styles. Even Royce admitted that he was training Muya Thai before his fight with Hughes.

Being primarily a stand up fighter does not mean that I am not at a disadvantage against multiple people, just as any striker would be. We do train against this in my school though, because we focus on SELF DEFENSE, not fighting. We learn to disengage and get out of dodge at the first oppurtunity, it is after all survival.

To the guy that has the inside joke with one of the Gracies. I too would love a baseball bat against multiple attackers, however it is not normally something I carry around. As for the lady that said you don't pull guard on the street, how you train is how you will fight, garunteed. I also see a dis-preportionant number of BJJ people on here talking about using it in a street fight, or multiple street fights. Strange that in 18 years I have only had to use my Martial Arts physicly only once, and that was choking out a guy who was assaulting a lady. Could it be that some people are not taught that it is only for self defense as stated in the previous answer.

I think in a 1 on 1 street fight BJJ would be very good, I just wouldn't want it to be the only thing I knew, just in case. I have started trainign against a couple of local wrestler's on sprawling and also started to work some nasty ground stuff, in case it does go there, because it is another range, but I wouldn't want it to be the only thing I relied on. In our school we train and prepare for worst case scenarios, hoping we will never need it. I after all want to survive to go home to my family.

AS FOR THE BAT THING-I am sure that the person that attacks or mugs you is going to make an appointment and tell you to bring your bat. Get real and realize that unless you carry a weapon all the time, you will have only yourself and whatever you might pick up to rely on, and if you pick something up, if you don't know how to use it it will be useless.
Reply:I have not trained in BJJ but from what I have seen and heard it is extremely hard to defeat when there is a one on one contest. But if there is more then 1 assailant then it look like you would be at a more of a disadvantage then that of a striking or upright Art, like Brian said (good answer by the way) if there is more then one attacker get a bat.

I to like to watch MMA and the other Arts that compete because it allows me to watch other Martial Arts and people who have mastered them compete. It also allowed me to judge how my Arts that I have learnt stake up in the areas that the competition judges. But I find it hard to judge BJJ because it is very alien to what I know because most of the strength of the Art is based on the floor. Because of this it must prepare you well for UFC tournaments as that is a one on one fight.

That said I find BJJ a very effective art in one on one encounters but I find it wanting against multiple attackers.
Reply:My view is this, Bjj is great (at what it is great at) mult. attacks isn't one of the "great" things about it. I train bjj and mma and love it but I will say, for me, it is not "perfect" there is no such thing as an all perfect system, unless you design it for yourself. What I mean is this, No one art covers everything you need that is designed for you. Even if there was a "perfect" art out there, which there isn't, it would be perfect for the one who created it, not for your or I. The only way you are going to find the perfect art for you is if you develop it for yourself. First you need to learn from many arts, not jsut one. Then adapt those skills to fit you, your body movements and way you do things. Then after all those many, many years you'll have found an art that is "perfect" for you. Now that you have that you then must perfect (as best you can) that style, which takes many, many more years. BJJ is great, for me, as a one on one. I've done ground with three on one and did o.k., but it was training (even though they were trying to take my head off) but I had them all on the ground. If one had been able to get up I would have been in a world of hurt. Again, the more you have the better it could get because if you get one, two or even three on the ground any others standing will most likly hit and kick there buddy while trying to get at you, that may help as well. As far as MMA, I think BJJ is a MUST.
Reply:If you are really worried about being attacked by multiple attackers I wouldn't study BJJ but focus more on kav magaw. Just about every movie is a combo that is followed with a shot to the groin or the eye. If you're on the low side of a 2, 3, 5, or 10 on 1, there are no cheap shots.

Is Aikido effective in a real street fight?

How does it compare to other styles of martial arts?

Is Aikido effective in a real street fight?
for any Martial art to be effective in a real fight situation, you have to be very, very good and the fighting style has to be second nature and automatic. If it is not, and you spend a split second thinking about it, that second will be when your opponent clumps you in the head and you will loose!
Reply:a
Reply:yes. just break some bones!
Reply:It depends on how quick you are. Aikido is very effective if you have good reflexes. I've taken Aikido and Tae Kwon Do. I once saw a state champion wrestler take down a 6th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He was able to do this due to his agility and speed. The martial arts were no match for this.

Aikido is taught mainly as a defense. You use the other person's aggression against them.

However, if used purely for defense, Tae Kwon Do is also very effective. And since it places more emphasis on attack than does Aikido, if there is an opening you'll be ready to seize it.

Overall, however, if you don't have quick reflexes, I'd try to stay out of street fights.
Reply:I have used the techniques in both street confrontations and in underground pit fighting and found them to be highly effective. As far as their effectiveness as compared to other martial arts, it is a matter circumstance. There are stiuations where an Aikido would be the most effective technique, and there are situation where techniques from another style would work far better.

After 33 years one of the most important things that I have learned about practical usages of fighting techniques thatevery situation is unique and techniques that work in some situation , won't work in others, or would just simply be unsuitable for the level of danger in that situation. No single style is best for everything. Best to use techniques from multiple styles. Will give a wider range of possible responsis and make it kore likely to have techniques in your arsenal that an opponent hasn't encountered.
Reply:Aikido is defensive and has no technique for which to attack your enemy.

If you wanna bring in Aikido for a street fight(looking for trouble), then you'll have to be in defensive for all the time...But that's aint the way to be using martial arts!

If you wanna get OUT of a street fight(self-defense), Aikido will be effective.

If trained very well, Aikido seems to be quite a "dangerous" skill to possess...But that's like...20 years?
Reply:yeah........
Reply:If you were to train aikido to the point where you can use it in a "real fight" or combat situation I'm sure it can be effective. Problem is that most aikido is trained with little or no resistance and little meaningfull sparring in an "open" context where people can do anything. I haven't seen anyone use aikido in this manner, although I'm sure there are schools out there that may be more than just "compliant" training.
Reply:Most forms of aikido do not have attacks, although throws and locks (which become breaks) can definately hurt. I don't know if it is the style or the practioner and how they practice.

If you train realistically you will be able to react realistically.

There are several forms of Aikido. The founder of the art was very good at using it in any condition.
Reply:Last two answer is correct.

Personally I would avoid Aikido though. Aikido is more of a "hit or miss" art because you basically have to try grab person's hand as they hit you which is very very difficult even after years and years of training. Also lot of Aikido classes that I have seen put most focus on grab person wrist, like anyone will stand still so you can grab their wrist in a real fight.

So I would find something else if I was you.
Reply:Aikido is effective, but it isn't the style, it is the practitioner that makes it effective in any given situation. If you aren't well trained in any style then you aren't likely to be really effective on the street. A little old lady who's good with a cane could beat a poorly trained or very inexperienced martial artist.
Reply:The question isn't "is aikido effective in a real street fight", the question is "is aikido effective at all", and the answer is no.

And wrestling IS a martial art you fools!
Reply:I'm sure it could be. Like alot of other martial arts if you know how to do it it could be effective.
Reply:Short answer: Yes.

But...

Street fight or street confrontation. Not same. Very different.

Street fight implies that you are fighting as well. If you are fighting, it isn't Aikido, it's just bad jiu jitsu. Bad jiu jitsu is probably worse than no jiu jitsu.

If you are simply defending yourself and stay out of your fighting mind it would be hard to find anything *more* effective than Aikido. In a truly Aikido mindset you don't react, you respond.

And you can be creative. The accidental "techniques" that are a result of adapting to the situation combined with comprehensive movement training are often the most impressive.

No technique ever goes as planned. So if you are attached to a particular way of doing things, you are going to get hammered. But if you stay out of the "fight" and just take things as they come your training will handle the situation for you. This is true, really, of any martial art.

The single hardest aspect of Aikido training is learning to stay out of your fighting mind. Not responding to aggression with aggression is *not* second-nature to most of us and it takes a great deal of training and meditation to develop this skill.

That being said: when people say Aikido is not effective it makes me wonder how all the people who I've known personally who've used Aikido to defend themselves managed to do so. Magic?
Reply:I feel comparably, it is more fully encompassing, and touches upon all other important aspects of other arts, in a focused way, as there are only so many ways to break, lock, restrain, etc. Aikido has anything one needs, as for martial arts in its very purpose, and is also enlightening. I do below copy again another post I wrote to someone else in this query regarding the magic of Aikido, I hope you enjoy the videos. Aikido. The founder of this art also wrote "The Art Of Peace" Ueshiba........Which is at the opposite end of the spectrum of the "The Art Of War" written by Sun Tzu...which is required reading of all Japanese business students. The concept of peace is shown in the founder Ueshibas art-form of Aikido. Alot of the EVASIVE techniques used in Seagals movies are Aikido derived(Also his fluency in the combination of chin na with Aikido is to be admired)-although Aikido has its own forms of submission somewhat similar to Chin na at advanced stages of its teachings . I like the whole concept of Aikido as it evokes a thought of "opposing forces" that can only be described as, well, "bringin' it to yourself", but its usually better to just walk away.....because as you watch some of Aikido's demonstrations (they have a few on the net) at least they used to-and I was also lucky enough to know someone who introduced me to it while I lived in Chicago-and the demonstrations were magical (This is Aikidos USA headquarters-Chicago is), you will find it to be very flowing and harmonious as to the attackers will as to the amount of damage he receives. Sort of like the epitome of Karma-but karma that comes much more quickly to fruition. Check it out. Peace.

I just checked-go to Yahoo videos and enter Aikido demonstrations. There are some there. Very cool

NINEDEMON-Noone in a streetfight "gives" you anything, noone gives you a temple to strike, etc.- but as in larp sao (sticky hands in Chinese)"exercises", the grabbing of the wrist elevates the "awareness" of the touch of the oncoming attack and allows your feelings to guide you to this area-which also in this exercise-allows the practitioner to understand the human bodys kinesiology (the way it works, bends, responds to movement)

MICHAEL RIEHLE-

Short answer: Yes.

But...(contradiction to first intention and answer-a sign of hesitation)

Street fight or street confrontation. Not same. Very different. (Water is wet-useless statement-one who wastes chi on nothing-or has no control)

Street fight implies that you are fighting as well. (It doesn't IMPLY it, the word fight goes to show fact by its meaning-confusion of focus) If you are fighting, it isn't Aikido, it's just bad jiu jitsu. ( Aikido is not bad jiu jitsu-Aikido is Aikido, and jiu jitsu is jiu jitsu-any martial art can become combative-Websters Dictionary: Martial:Of, or relating to, or like war) Bad jiu jitsu is probably worse than no jiu jitsu. (A toddler always walks better than an infant)

If you are simply defending yourself and stay out of your fighting mind it would be hard to find anything *more* effective than Aikido. (Aikido strives for peace-you are correct) In a truly Aikido mindset you don't react, you respond. (Webster's Dictionary: react:To respond to stimulus)

(Webster's Dictionary: respond:To reply 2. To act because of the prompting of something:react. 3. To react positively.-what you said contradicts itself-this shows probable poor follow through in execution-contradictive thought process)

And you can be creative. The accidental "techniques" that are a result of adapting to the situation combined with comprehensive movement training are often the most impressive. (This is what I refer to as the larp sao exercises-or awareness exercises referred to for someone else here-flowing like water-chi)

No technique ever goes as planned. (NO technique? defeatist hypnosis works too I guess, but always or never are not harmonious to enlightentment-yin and yang-this statement shows poor teaching skills-but adaptation to ones surroundings is good). So if you are attached to a particular way of doing things, you are going to get hammered.(This is a broad statement, and defeatist-I can say if you are attached to becoming part of the flow of a path that works for you-hone it-and always learn from it-as the Book Of Changes says this is the way-as we get better both by bettering our weaknesses, but so much more better by honing our strengths, which usually make our weaknesses wean off of themselves-this is a taoist concept) But if you stay out of the "fight" and just take things as they come your training will handle the situation for you. This is true, really, of any martial art. (Now THERE is the "magic"-some martial arts are not borne to become one of staying out of the fight-especially the arts that are more considered sports-and this magic-which so does show the yin and the yang-and disharmony of so many things that you said, is the true "magic" of Aikido-the attacker fighting against themselves-the divinity of its own fruition)

Magic?

Wow, that's alot of years to have expressed your concept of the art as you did.

You come across as a very condescending person, and even though I try to stay humble-I felt it okay to explain my concept of Aikido in a word-like fashion, using your words as its force, I hope you don't mind the example-master. By the way, those who speak of their tao........................................ if after 30 years of studying Aikido, you do not understand the concept of "?"magic" I personally have explained above, maybe your history of your art will lead you to some of Ueshibas (The founders) concept of it%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

If Sokaku Takeda can be said to have provided the technical basis for the later development of aikido, it was Onisaburo Deguchi, leader of the Omoto sect, who offered the key spiritual insights that struck a responsive chord in the religiously oriented Morihei. This second installment in a series of essays on Morihei Ueshiba by Aiki News Editor-in-Chief Stanley Pranin focuses on the relationship between the aikido founder and Onisaburo, which had a major bearing on the spiritual thinking of Morihei and the ethical framework of aikido.

Nice picture, by the way
Reply:Aikido is as effective as the practitioner.

The one thing I will say (so as not to inflame the discussion) is that Aikido is one of those styles that teaches you an awareness of ALL of your opponents. It is drawn from sword culture, where there are situations in which you must face MANY combatants on the field. Aikido will train you to handle more than one opponent from more than one direction.

Which skill is the best for street fight?

hard puncher

technical wrestler

or size/strength

Which skill is the best for street fight?
alertness/awareness...yes, being able to punch, wrestle, etc are important, but you need to know where you are and what is around you. in a street fight, there is no such thing as a fair fight. the best thing is to be able to asses what is in your environment and what you could use in it to your advantage as a weapon, weakness, etc. don't be afraid to throw dirt in someone's eyes, or to pick up a heavy stick/pipe. in a street fight, there are no rules except for to make sure they don't get up so you can get away.
Reply:wrestling. In all reality the fight will probably end up on the ground. If you're lucky someone will break it up by then.
Reply:Good runner!!!
Reply:Technical wrestler. Submission is the best strategy for victory.
Reply:Street smarts.

This can't be emphasized enough.

Street smarts will tell you when a situation is developing.

Street smarts will tell you what to do to get away from/defuse a situation.

Street smarts will tell you when your only choice is to stand your ground and when you are left with no other option but to defend yourself.

I'm sorry. I know this isn't really what you're asking for, but a good wrestle will beat a bad puncher any day and vice-versa. No sense squabbling which is better. Street situations - by which I mean assaults - should certainly not be sought after. Legally speaking, there can be a very thin line between a fight and an assault.

Always keep in mind other opponents may be unseen. Always assume weapons may be involved.

Therefore, avoid at all costs.
Reply:Toughness. The ability to shrug of painful blows. But out of those three I'd say hard punches.
Reply:Hard striker (hands %26amp; feet). Wrestling tends to end up on the ground %26amp; if you have more than 1 attacker, that is the last place you want to be. Also grappling requires more tome to disable each attacker. Time is something you are unlikely to have.

Reply:It has been explained to me that the reason Muay Thai and BJJ trained people do so well in "real" fights is that they actually train with body contact. I saw a documentary on these little thai kick boxers, who every year would go to Japan and take on the karate masters...and beat them up, even though the Thai's were much smaller. It was put down to the fact that in training, the Thais had full contact all the time, the karate dudes hardly ever. The best skill is to know how to take full contact.
Reply:"When the attacks come, i moved my mind.".....so the best weapon in street fight is your mind..
Reply:truly the best is dont be there.

but if you have to be there it all depends on the situation.

if your in a bar there isnt a lot room and you dont want to go to the ground. so harder punches or elbows and joint locks would work best. if some one is bigger than you you cant really out wrestle them so you cant really rely on just that. and if some one knows how to fight someone whos larger or stronger than them they can use the larger persons size to their advantage.
Reply:People seem fresh. Its all about choosing your enemies wisely and if you're unconfident know you shouldn't bother fighting, especially if you need to ask questions about fisticuff on yahoo! whoever inflicts the most damage upon their opponent wins, meaning either hit first and hardest or hardest and most, if you are more bloody, you lose. Don't fight bikers, Arnold Schwarzenegger, or Chuck Norris. If you think street fighting is about wrestling or grappling you're boring to watch. Geneaology and personal experiences act as the largest factor. Fin.
Reply:In a street fight, you're not likely to have the option of wrestling or grappling that easy and the truth is the way to fight a street fight is to fight it like a street fight. You're not gonna see people going for full mount or trying to pull submissions. If you start choking someone in a street fight, you got another thing coming cause people aren't gonna let you choke someone and you'll be getting into a deathmatch i think. Best strategy is grab the guy, grab his head and start hitting it or shoving it into a wall or the ground. That's a street fight lol. MMA doesn't change that in my mind. Can't be taking someone's back, stepping away from punches or the usual stuff you see in a professional fight. Brutality wins a street fight, there's some strategy but not the finesse we see in MMA.
Reply:Guess in every fight there will be a different opponent fighting under different circumstances.

Some might say tt the fight will go to the floor but you can avoid that by using the proper stand up techniques. It all depends on what youre good at and how you assess the situation to maximise your arsenal's effectiveness.

However, one universal advantage for ANY fighter is the ability to sustain blows. You can move as fast, as rough or as perfect as you wish but if you cannot take a blow you'll still end up loosing a great deal. One clean hard blow, lucky or not will take you out and open up doors for other blows to follow.

Train more in whatever you can and always spar and fight to broaden your horizons. Gain exposure with other better more professional fighters that yourself. You'll eventually get better and better yourself if you can continue to up your game.

Stand Up, Wrestling, Grappling, watever the style, its up to you to find out whats best for you.

What is more important in a street fight- big muscles or strength?

Could bulk alone help? Or would a limber strong man have a better advantage. You always see bouncers at clubs and they have the bulky look. But would a small extremely strong man also do a good job with manhandling folks if he had to?

What is more important in a street fight- big muscles or strength?
There is a few ways to answer this, a guy with big bulky muscles is definately strong, don't get it twisted. You don't develop big muscles and be weak.

I bounce at clubs and have 2 professional MMA guys work with me, one is 155lbs the other around 145lbs. Both fairly small dudes, but they are cut and are insane athletes. They throw guys around all the time, they also have knowledge and leverage on their side, plus it is fairly easy to move a drunk person around.

However, because they are smaller guys and you can't really tell how strong or cut up they are in big red polo shirts, people try them a lot more often and question their authority more often than they do those of us who a bit bigger.

People generally hire big bulky bouncers not because of fighting ability, but because of deterrant and intimidation. I am a fairly big guy and hardly ever have to get too physical with anyone because my size is usually intimidation enough. You typically want people who can stop fights or deter fights as bouncers, not dudes who people want to fight, or guys who like to fight.

Your job is to keep the peace not cause chaos. There is a guy that comes in our bar all the time... HUGE! I mean Bob Sapp big, giant *** arms and everything. A guy like that, never has to fight as a bouncer. When he comes up and says you have to leave, you leave. He also has size and mass on his side and can easily big you up and escourt you with minimal damage to himself.

Our smaller guys, as tough and strong as they are, will have a problem physically throwing out a guy who is 250lbs or so. Simply because of body weight, if they are holding on to a guy like that and he falls, they fall with him. That is just physics unfortunately.

However they do very well, when they have to manhandle the average guy they can easily, especially because the guy is drunk.

But Bulk is strength. Large bulky muscles are developed by low rep high weight workouts. A limber strong man may have the advantage agility wise, and that does help. But a big dude with big muscles will have the strength advantage.

I do think there are a large amount of big bouncers out there that don't know how to fight, or even how to do their job for that matter. Most of them don't really have to, in most towns there is a cop at every club. Our club is outside city limits so we are the rare exception, we have no police presence and we usually have a 5 to 10 minute wait on the Sheriffs if we call them so we have to deal with more things on our own.

Most of the time at a club you want a big bouncer no one wants to mess with, if you are a smaller guy then you definately need to know what you are doing, because drunk guys will try to start things and question someone smaller or the same size as them. It's rare for them to try to pick a fight with someone larger than themselves.

So in short to your answer, big muscles equal strength, Bob Sapp is much stronger than Fedor. But having the strength advantage doesn't equal a win, having the skill does. If you have two people of around the same skill level, more than likely the bigger stronger guy is going to win. Just look at Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie. Matt Hughes pretty much manhandled him.

So the smaller you are, the more skill you have to have over your opponent, that and the ability to use someone's strength against them. Franky most big ol bulky bouncer usally aren't that great of fighters, but that doesn't mean they can't manhandle you if the y get a hold of you. Then of course there are large bouncers who also train, which is a whole different thing.

The best thing a bouncer has going for him going into a fight, is the fact that he is sober and the other guy is drunk. If it wasn't for that fact I may have actually gotten my butt kicked a few times by much larger stronger dudes. However my sobriety and their drunkness combined with my skill usually equals a win for me. If all else fails I call for backup on my earpeice.

Well I hope that helps somewhat. I think there is a big difference between strong, and strong enough. All you have to be is strong enough.

There is also something to be said about guys who are weight strong, and guys who are body strong. There may be a guy who has better weight lifting technique, can lift more than you on a specific exercise, or even multiple exercises, but you can manhandle because your whole body is stronger seems stronger when you tie up. That is because you know how to use more major muscle groups through technique and leverage than he does.

Probably way more information than you wanted.
Reply:The guys at clubs have big muscles so they look tough and people won't mess with them has easily. Strength is better to have because a guy could be all muscle and not be able to do anything with those muscles.
Reply:Bouncers are hired more for the look than for what they can do. Size is intimidating to many people. A strong limber guy could very well be a better fighter than the guy with the huge muscles. Fighting is more about skill and attitude than size or strength.
Reply:I think it depends on the level of skill that someone has in fighting (whether it is training or just being in numerous brawls) and I think that it also depends a great deal on strength. No I dont think that strength alone could always be good enough but once again that also depends on their opponent...
Reply:its all about knowing how to fight. muscles just intimidate an opponent. look at ufc fights, and you'll see what i mean. ive seen strong men go down and beat by an opponent who did not have big muscles. so no, muscles or strenght are not important, it's knowing how to fight.
Reply:Agility, quickness and skill will take you a lot further, a lot faster. Big muscles won't do someone any good at all if they can't catch their opponent. Big isn't always slower, but it very often is. A lot of guys who have all the big muscles spent all of their time creating them, not really learning how to use them - so I think that even a wiry little guy with little strength might come out ahead in a street fight, if he has any skill at all.
Reply:yeah, strength to a degree but speed and knowledge can kick strengths @ss everytime...

could be in a nice club...in a "roadhouse" situation it might provoke SOME losers...
Reply:Speed + Technique= power

You can have all the muscle in the world, but if you dont know how to properly throw a punch and you are slow, it would be more of a pushing motion rather than a solid snap, like a punch should be.
Reply:Braus and strength are just a couple of factors. When we get into a life threatining situation, our body dumps a huge amount of adrenaline in our system giving us super human strength and speed for a brief moment. During this, cognitive thinking and fine motor movements are disabled beacause more blood is sent to the "fighting" body parts. Even a martial arts expert with twelves years of experience can forget most of his moves because of this. Strength or Muscle? Experience. That's more important.
Reply:if you want to just manhandle them as in jsut hold them down and throw them around?then yes, bulk muslce will help. if your talking about just whooping people, then no, it'll slow you down. .muscles can help, because intimidation helps with the outcome. my experiences tell me that it is half a mind game and half skill. chances are that if even if they are willingly going to fight you, if they have the slightest chance of thinking they'll lose...they'll lose, becasue now they're a little scared. i've seen smaller guys finishing up bigger guys plenty of time to determine that brute strength and quickness matters more than bulky heavy weight muscle heads in tight t-shirts. don't get me wrong, you do need some strength and muscle, but not like no bouncer or wwe wrestlers.
Reply:neither... its speed... if you can pack a good punch and get it in there quick your size will not matter. The bulky guys are about 85% show... they dont expect to get hit because their size is so intimidating... Ive actually heard of a bouncer that got laid out by a really short scrawny guy.... ( of course he was too drunk to notice the size of the bouncer... ) non-the-less it caught him off gaurd and it knocked him out...
Reply:Bulk can provide an advantage but strength is more valuable. Bulk is a great deterrent. Most people will choose a smaller person to attack given a choice.

The bouncers are visual deterrents, that is why they are huge.

I think the combination of size and strength is a distinct advantage in a bouncer's line of work. please remember bouncer's are not in street fights. They are simply there to physically remove people from the property, this is not a fight. It is a tug of war in which they must worry about not getting hit in. In a tug of war size is an advantage.

Personally, given a choice between size and strength. I would choose size. ( I would take speed over all of these.)
Reply:Neither-TECHNIQUE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING.

Mentality makes the difference !

Reply:in a street fight anything goes muscle slows u down .
Reply:The bouncers at club are definitely hired for their looks. I train with few people who are bouncer and they all are huge and intimidating even if they can't fight their way out of wet paper bag.

Muscles CAN help if you know what you're doing! If you lift weights all day and never stretches, work on stamina, or train then my bet is you will go down after throwing two or three sloppy wild punch and gas out. If you work out and stretch and train but you're not huge you are still a serious force to be reckon with beause you have power, speed, and other things to back you up.

Let make a example, you can easily build a rocket car that go up to 700 mph. However do you think you can really turn car that goes this fast? NO! That's why Nascar car doesn't go faster than 220 or 230 mph most of the time. So basically the faster car goes, the harder it's to turn and control the car. Same can be say about musclar man. They may can lift a lot of weight and be very srtong, but that doesn't mean they can fight well.
Reply:The bulk is for intimidation factor only.

It's better to have developed, but lean muscles when you're fighting....especially if you're training in a style that requires suppleness or quickness in movement.

If you're just looking to manhandle someone....sure, slow-twitch muscle fibre bulk helps.

Now, I'm well built, but I'm not Hulk-like....it's good to be halfway there. Strength to do what's neccescary, but flexible enough to move out of the way and keep a flow going.

Being TOO big screws your flexibility....not to mention, it slows your movement as you're dynamically carrying more weight through space = basic physics.

Be strong, but flexible. You don't need bulk to win a fight.
Reply:Anyone who is put in a situation that is a bad one if he has the spirit to win the challenge is likely to become victorious. Muscle has a little to do with it. Skill has about 10 percent.
Reply:Smaller men have an advantage at man handling people. There swing is reduceable to the larger person so if you have a skinny man with strong arms with common sense you can deduce that the smaller man with more strength would crush a brute. But.. you must remember that brute will always scare the opponent, and have a weight advantage. well any one that has ever fought in a tournament wouldn't be scared of a bigger man but most people aren't martial artists especially at a bar so all they have to do is hire guys that look big. Bouncers arn't that tough, compared to martial artists. My parents own bars and i could wreck there bouncers they look big and i look not small but decievingly average. So you would see me fighting a bigger person you think i'm going to lose... wrong. If he gets a hold of me and knows how to use his weight he may get and advantage... but he won't i'm to fast ide strike him in armpit most likely dislocating his arm or breaking his shoulder or collar bone depends on how angry he makes me. Than ide fall through with a palm to the solar plexus making him realease himself in his pants. So me the smaller man would win in this situation.

But there are occasions where say a russian man thats a master at sambo... so probably three years of training in a russian school. 3years=Much A$$ kicking... ok i find a bouncer in a bigger city than mine he looks big so i take him on little do i know hes russian immigrant with 10 years, 10 beign the same amount as me, i go for the same moves he would break my arm discreatly than take me out back and put me in an arm bar, by arm bar i mean break my arm right thna and than kick me in the kidney so hard i spit out my splean.

So in both situations its goes to say if you have more experince you win. But i believe if you have trained harder and are more muscular with the same amount of experince the person who has trained harder will win. And to defeat that, muscle doesn't always win some one that has weight lifted for 10 years can not beat a martial artist that has been trainign for 10 years. Hope i cleared things up, have a nice day, evening!
