Reply:Umaga
Reply:rikishi
Reply:Umaga but wwe is not real they plan out who wins the matches and everything except the moves the actors like john cena do that
Reply:Rikishi
Reply:i think it would be umaga because he is more light on his feet and has more moves.
Reply:This question was just asked yesterday, only without the street fight stipulation. I still take Rikishi.

Krav Maga vs. BJJ in a street fight?

Who is better suited to win the fight? All things being equal between the two fighters.

Krav Maga vs. BJJ in a street fight?
The one who wants to win more.
Reply:Great question

Krav Maga uses tactics for self defense. example-getting out of chokes/headlocks/wristgrabs plus dirty strikes and head stomps when the opponent is down

Krav Maga uses following principles

-Fighting dirty and learning no-holds-barred moves in a realistic environment

-Adapts to the student

-Students build on their natural human reflexes

-Relies on “continuous motion" to complete the defense hence nothing ritual or choreographed

-Brings students to a high level of skill in a relatively short period

-Incorporates modern realistic re-enactments so students learn how to operate under the stress

-No Rules, use everything you have

-Adapts and is a hybrid of mixed martial arts techniques like Boxing, Karate, Judo, BJJ ,JuJitsu, Muay Thai and other lesser known styles

-Students learn to function during the stress and shock of a sudden, violent encounter, thus excellent for realistic self defense in a unpredictable environment like streets

Thai Boxing / BJJ- As a sport, They have rules and illegal moves and encourge competitive tournaments, fights

Krav Maga = Self Defense and Street Fights

Thai Boxing / BJJ = MMA

Reply:I believe it is arrogant for anyone to think that because someone learns a certain style, that they cannot adapt to any situation against any opponent. With "proper training" every single martial art out there can be deadly, and to think that one fighter could win a fight everytime against another is silly.... I am getting frustrated with the thought that "this art is better than that art", it's like saying this basketball player had this coach and that basketball player had that coach so this one would win every time, it does depend greatly on the "player" (i know it is a terrible analogy, but it's like saying larry bird can only shoot 3's and shaq can break backboards, shaq cant shoot 3's and larry bird cant break back boards) ok nuff ranting
Reply:Krav Maga for sure in a street fight. I dont think it would even be close.
Reply:Hard to really answer this one because no art is really superior to another. It's the individual that makes the difference.

I've trained in both krav maga and BJJ so I can at least say this. If the fight remains standing, then the krav maga fighter would likely win since they train a lot of different striking techniques from the first class, whereas BJJ, if you train just the traditional gi-wearing methods, really has no strikes since it's all about the ground game. It's different if you are talking about someone who has trained in vale tudo techniques, which incorporate striking. The krav maga fighter would still have an advantage since there really are tons of strikes you learn but an experienced vale tudo fighter might be even. Krav maga does not have actual fighting like MMA guys although a lot of intense sparring--unless you trained in the Israeli military where there is real fighting as part of the training. Also from my experience in another stand-up art, I learned that I only ever really used a few techniques out of the arsenal I had been taught.

If the fight goes to the ground, which it probably would since that is basically BJJ, then the BJJ fighter has a definite advantage but not as clear as the krav maga fighter in pure striking( vs a non-vale tudo fighter). Krav maga actually teaches grappling. Many techniques I learned were pretty simple for me since I had already learned them in BJJ.

As for a streetfight in general, I think krav maga is better suited for this. As pointed out earlier, teaching self-defense is the basic principle and includes techniques you would not ordinarily be taught in BJJ such as striking to the groin, gauging the eyes, etc. People tend to use what they have practiced, so it's more likely that a krav maga fighter would use "dirty" techniques. Haganah, another Israeli combat art, is perhaps even better in a streetfight.
Reply:Well if theirs no Style vs Style thing going on? Also if in the Clinch and/or takedown occurred! Then BJJ would be harder to bet with an experience person! If distance is given the Krav Maga will be tougher to bet while not Clinched and/or Grounded! It's to hard to say for sure bout BJJ ain't good if you cant grab the person!
Reply:Krav Maga is the best fighting style especially for the streets.

Go to en.wikipedia.com and search for krav maga, scroll down to modern usage and you will see that the military and FBI even use it.

As prove, why don't FBI use the famous TKD or bjj and all the great known martial arts you see in competitions and TV.
Reply:hands down krav maga...not only does it teach you self defense...but it will also teach you moves from an offense stand point. every move is made to eliminate anyone (big or small)...and all the moves are basic....no real technical movements...your reaction time is quicker...

and not to mention...this is used by the israeli special forces....(check on that army and look for effectiveness...lol)

Would JUDO work in a real street fight ? Please limit responses from people who actually practiced judo.?

I know one person who took it, and didnt think it would work in a real fight, say for example if someone was trying to punch you in the face (the most common form of assault I can think off).

Would JUDO work in a real street fight ? Please limit responses from people who actually practiced judo.?
One-on-one Judo is a strong tool.

Remember the rules and techniques of Judo have been adjusted to minimize injury. Many of the throws can easily and intuitively be transformed towards Japanese Jujistu-type throws. In this art Uke is often delivered to the ground in a bad position (like on his head or the point of his shoulder or with the combined force and focus of tori’s weight). Also the helpful lifting action we practice at the end of each throw can usually be converted into an arm bar.

Also Judoka have good mat work. If the fight devolves to the ground, the Judo player has an above average chance.

Judo’s limitations come in retreat. Once you grab a hold of someone, they also have a hold of you. If things turn against you, your chance to run away are very limited.

Judo players often have the bad habit of leading with their chin. They are trying to close the gap, and striking is completely absent in the practice of Judo. So often the Judoka is not ‘thinking” about avoiding a strike.

Finally Judo is not very adaptable to multiple opponents. Good strikers can easily fight multiple opponents. By locking up with a single person, the Judoka becomes vulnerable to attacks from others. And generally Judo finishes on the floor. Being on the floor is a bad place to be in a bar room fight (broken glass, bar stools and pool cues).

Judo is a great bridge between striking and pure ground fighting, but Judo has its limitations as do all martial arts. This is why we’ve come to MMA.
Reply:judo, like any martial art or any type of fighting training is not going to be applicable in all situations and is only going to be as effective as your training level.

If you trained judo, with only the consideration of using it as a sport in competition in mind, then it will be applicable and certainly aspects of it can be used, but not as effectively as someone who has trained to mix thier judo with striking and practiced at that intensity of sparring (realistically sparring).

If the person didn't think it would work ever, then he probably hasn't been in a real fight.

the idea of grabbing each other's gi's and scoring points is not applicable however, getting someone down (throw) and using thier jacket (gi) to do so is.
Reply:yes and no. it really depends on how versatile the person using th form is and how well theyvve practice. all traditional forms are limited by thei individual weaknesses. judo is a good grappling form and if you manage to adapt throws without a gi youre set. one possible throw is when they punch at you, you grab their wrist, move you leg between their, push up on their armpit with your free arm and bend forward all in one motion. this should allow you to throw sumone whos just wearing a t shirt, giving you nothing to grab. in fact there are many throws you can execute including the one where you drop, lock their leg and push them back into a knee bar.
Reply:Ask Gene Lebell who wasted boxing legend Milo Savage ( and had to hide when leaving due to an angry crowd )and the list goes on and on. He is a Judoka and has a record that explains the true reply here. All comes down to person, training and desire. Gracie Jiu Jitsu is a direct example of Judo in action after going to a group willing to use and adapt it. Their style came from a Judoka in Japan titled the Count Of Combat. Then you also have Mr. Swain the World Champion. Trust me he can street fight if need be, ask again Chuck Liddell who trains under ( with ) Mr. Swain the World Judo Champion.
Reply:For me it would because I also did alot of boxing.

It is a legitimate criticism though that when practicing Judo no one teaches you how to defend punches or kicks. If you can avoid the punches and kicks it is an awesome self defense system. There are so many devastating throws you could use. Also since most people wear clothes the throws actually might be better than the throws someone in freestyle wrestling would use.

If throwing someone on their head doesn't work in a street fight what will?
Reply:Judo has worked in fighting before, iv read stories about old Judoka defending themselves against buglers and such, but alot of the Judo today is really wattered down, there is alot of real Judo that isnt taught in most school anymore and that leaves it lacking

Anything will work against someone who doesnt know anything about fighting even TKD, its when someone has a little experience that those kind of sport orientated arts begin to lack
Reply:Will jujitsu do?The nastiest street fighter I ever met was a 3rd dan in judo.Depends on the individual "the art does not make the man but the man makes the art"

http://komatsubushi.proboards76.com/inde...
Reply:Yes it works.

It all falls in the end to the practionner if they can recall their training when it is needed or if they freeze up or have done the technique wrong.

It works really well. I once took a man blitzing me with a punch to the face and I grabbed his right arm he swung with twisted my hip under him and flipped him over and then used Ju jitsu to incapcitate him. fight was over and no one was hurt.

so YES it does work in the hands of a trained user and not going to freeze up.
Reply:using it as a sport in competition in mind, then it will be applicable and certainly aspects of it can be used. The only thing I had against Judo is that they tend to break/loose there own balance when throwing/flipping another person. From there it turns into a ground fight. But 90% of the time that is were you end up. Unlike Aikido were it hardly ever goes to ground fight because there joints are snapped and the fight is over, and there is no need to go there.
Reply:haha im geting in a fight tomarrow :) with another 16 year old, judo is really flashy aand i guess yeah it will work, but try sticking to striking

Which "Chuck" walks away from the street fight, victorious...?

1. Norris

2. Zito

3. Liddell

Assume all fighters are in their prime at the time of the fight.

And spare me the lectures on why this is a stupid question and how it's impossible to pick one, yadda yadda yadda... This is MEANT to be an exercise in silliness...

Which "Chuck" walks away from the street fight, victorious...?
Chuck Liddell is an absolute animal. I haven't seen anyone come close to beating him!!!

!!!!

Why is that even questionable?!

ps. If you get roundhouse kicked in the face by Chuck Norris in your dream, you DIE!
Reply:Chuck Norris obviously, even the Boogie Man is afraid of him, none can compare, not even a woodchuck.
Reply:I would say Liddell....Zito and Norris got beat by Liddell.....
Reply:!. Liddell would win easy he's reality, norris is just karate and show. Zito don't remember who that is
Reply:How about the X-factor, Chuck Woolery from love connection hahaha.
Reply:Liddell. Beating up van Damme doesn't seem all too daunting of a task compared to taking out two legendary fighters. And I don't think Norris would hold his own against Liddell.
Reply:I love Liddell, and I would never f**k with Zito, but i think the legend that is Chuck Norris would be too well trained for either of these two.
Reply:Iceman, hands down.
Reply:The Chuck that knows Jukido Jitsu
Reply:I'm keeping it old school.

I have to pick Norris.........
Reply:Obviously Norris if we're talking about the totally awesome power of karate. Don't you all know the CHUCK NORRIS FACTS?

For instance:

* Guns don't kill people. Chuck Norris kills People.

* There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of animals Chuck Norris allows to live.

* Chuck Norris does not sleep. He waits.

* The chief export of Chuck Norris is Pain.

* There is no chin under Chuck Norris' Beard. There is only another fist.

* Chuck Norris has two speeds. Walk, and Kill.

* The leading causes of death in the United States are: 1. Heart Disease 2. Chuck Norris 3. Cancer

* Chuck Norris drives an ice cream truck covered in human skulls.

* Chuck Norris doesn't go hunting.... CHUCK NORRIS GOES KILLING

Otherwise, the answer is Liddell, if you're the type who takes himself really seriously (and has no fear of Chuck Norris's deadly spinning back kick)

Who has their best real-life street fight story that YOU participated in?

I knocked a guys teeth out with a fry pan. Long story, but it's my best. Don't reply saying violence is bad. If you don't like violence, you're in the wrong forum. Also, don't make stuff up. Please reply if you've actually been in a real fight.

Who has their best real-life street fight story that YOU participated in?
I was in DownTown San Diego at a Trolly Stop. I was standing there and 4 Guys came up to me. One tried to bump into me and Act tough. As me and him were exchanging words another one came and tried to grab my wallet.

I saw him and grabbed his wrist. Swinging him into his other friend who I was talking to and Knocking him down. I then quick applyed pressure and broke the kids wrist and threw him to the ground.

The other guys ran and the Trolly police arrested the two guys who were on the ground. I got on the Trolly and went home.

I'm not sure if thats my best one but it's the first one that came to mind. Unfortantly I do get into fights from time to time. It's very funny because everyone thinks if your big you won't get into fights. But what really happens is the people that come to fight you are serious if your big. You don't get any fair weather guys or guys you can talk down with ease.

I hate to fight and only do it when I have to but unfortantly it's happend to me more then I would like to say.
Reply:a frying pan? unless your life was in immediate danger doesnt that seem like excessive force?

anyways i havent been in a "street fight" since elementary school when someone cheap shotted me and slammed my head into a wall from behind and ran. i've been close to having to defend myself several times though but always manage to deescalate the situation
Reply:your in the wrong forum you moron martial artists dont like violence they only use it to defend themselves when they have to.dont make stuff up?like your stories true.maybe it was i suppose, you could have been cooking breakfast for your boyfriend at the time.
Reply:i threw a jaw breaker at a kid in elementary and it knocked his tooth out...MORTAL KOMBAAAATTT!!!!
Reply:I've only been in three fights in my entire life, 2 were in middle school and one less than a year ago. It was a good friend of mine although we are no longer speaking because of the incident. He hadn't really had all that much to drink but turned into a pr.ck none the less. He actually hit me in the face with a 40oz bottle (I still have a scar on my face to prove it). I was extremely shaken from the blow and proceed to forget most of my training and experience, I began swinging wildly and connected with a right hand that wobbled him good (unfortuantly it also broke my hand). I was able to get the thai clinch and tried to knee him to the head Wanderlie Silva style, I was aiming for the jaw to knock him out but I missed and broke his nose. Needless to say the fight was over.

Can wrestling moves used in a street fight?

i really wanna know this..i mean wrestling moves that are used in wwe,tna..like belly to belly,t bone, snap suplex, fireman carry,powerbomb,superkick,neckbreaker...

bcos i think wrestling move can end the fight quickly....

and those wrestling moves are mixed with mma

Can wrestling moves used in a street fight?
so you wanna open up a can of whoop-*** like captain insano against a fighter with real skills?

okay, all those moves are lame. the only ones that will work in a real streetfight are:

1. iron sheik's camel clutch

2. greg "the hammer" valentine's figure four leglock

3. jake "the snake" robert's sleeper hold

(oh, and don't forget to lay that python on your opponent's chest when he's out)

good luck dude!
Reply:Dude. Bust out the "PerfectPlex." That would be wicked.
Reply:only if a film crew is present
Reply:really try those on me and i m going to laugh as you struggle to do it and than i will be laughing even more when i break couple of your bones
Reply:i think you'll find that in a street fight wrestling moves or martial arts moves are not all that fancy or useful
Reply:yes, you can use them to break your own bones...get real man, wrestling isn't gonna be much use if you come across a skilled fighter...you cant even lay a finger on him let alone use your wrestling moves on him...
Reply:Some of the submission techniques that I've seen used could work, but too many of the moves like pile drives, suplexes and the like are such taht doning them outside of the ring would cause as much damage to you as to your opponent. The ring floor gives, the ground doesn't. And if your opponent doesn't have and training, they won't know how to protect themselves in a fall and you could kill them accidnetally, especially with moves designed to drop them on their head. Best to stay away from them for your own safety...

Now techniques from Greco-Roman wrestling are very effective in real life combat situations...try learning that if you want to incoroporate wrstlin into your fighting style. It added a whole new dimesion to my fighting when I learned it back in the 80's.
Reply:Look man, most of the moves you see on those "professional wrestling shows" are not real moves, they're choreographed, fake, just to make a good show for the fans.

while some techniques are possible like a fireman's carry can be used if an opponent is running towards you (because your using his forward momentum to throw him), in a real fight those kinds of techniques will not work.

So you can't equate what you see on WWE as real stuff because only a very small amount of the techniques you see actually have ANY real application at all, those guys run through the "matches" every day before they go "on stage" in front of every one that comes to the arena, IT'S A SHOW, ENTERTAINMENT, not real; all the WWE is, is an action soap opera if you think about it.

If you think those, you can actually use the techniques you listed in a street fight, my friend you'd better call ahead to the local Emergency Room to reserve you a bed, because you'll be visiting reeeaaal soon.

the only kind of wrestling that can be used in the mixed martial arts competition is Greco Roman or what is used in the Olympics and high school wrestling.

if you do think they'll work, good luck and I hope you have a good insurance to pay your medical bills.
Reply:In my experience, most street fights normally have about 2-3 punches thrown and then end up in a wrestling match anyway. But something like a Suplex?, . . . that's strictly for the movies and TV.
Reply:Real wrestling and grappling (not wwe or any of that crap) does work in a fight because a lot of fights end up on the ground.
Reply:u caNNOT use wresling in a street fight coz wresling is facke

can use thai-boxing and kung fu
Reply:Depend if it areal street fight without rules yes if you want to kill him just use the simple ones

Am sure iv seen a film with Liam Neilson in as a bare knuckle / street fighter.. help !!!?
The Big Man was released here in 1990 and subsequently '91 in other countries...called Crossing the Line is USA...

...although born in Co Antrim, Liam Neeson plays an unemployed Scottish miner, street fighting to make ends meet. He was an amateur boxer (amongst other things) before acting...

In a street fight, no weapons, no third party, who would win, Al Gore, or George Bush?

That depends. If there's a hurricane on the same day, Bush would show up a week later and therefore lose by default.

In a street fight, no weapons, no third party, who would win, Al Gore, or George Bush?
George Bush hands down. Al Gore would just whine like a baby and stomp his feet.
Reply:If you put Al Gores Virtual fighter chip in he would win, but if Bush was all drunk and hopped up on cocaine, then he would win.
Reply:Al Gore
Reply:BUSH! Lol cathy I agree! Besides . . . Bush is buff! Gore's a whining liberal! Heeheeheehee
Reply:gb cause he's hungry and most importaintly he's from Texas

Reply:Al Gore would cry his pinky liberal *** home and wouldnt even fight
Reply:The American people because we'd finally be rid of both of them. And by the way, GW is from Connecticut.
Reply:Thats it you win the prize for the dumbest question of the day. oh and some of the dumbest answers too.
Reply:Al Gore. Bush lets others do his fighting for him
Reply:I think Gore would have the dignity to walk away, just as he had the dignity to conceded the 2000 election despite the failure to count all the votes. However, Bush would probably chase him around with a nuclear bomb for months but never actually use it as he would be unable to figure out how.
Reply:Let´s hope Al Gore!

In a street fight, no weapons, no third party, who would win, Al Gore, or George Bush?

Please, if you are going to answer, be serious, have knowlege of the the background of both combatants.

In a street fight, no weapons, no third party, who would win, Al Gore, or George Bush?
I didn't know Gore was so active while in school, but I'd have to say George would win because he probably knows how to fight dirty. I can even picture him biting Gore, which Al would have no idea how to deal with. Interesting question, though. I look forward to reading the other responses.
Reply:I would say Gore, he played Football (was captin of the football team) and basketball in highschool, where is Bush was cheerleader in both highschool and at yale, plus bush only bench presses 180, which is really weak
Reply:Al Gore, would not have a chance, Georgie boy would be the one with the GUN!! (Know your politics!)
Reply:Gore, easy. Bush was a cheerleader at Yale.
Reply:Bush would win. Gore simply doesn't have the mindset to fight and win.
Reply:Al Gore i'm sure!

When in a fight (boxing, UFC, street fight, etc.) how exactly do you get knocked out?

What happens when you get punched to "knock you out"? What makes you lose control of your body, blackout, and fall down? And why can you just get back up (most times, especially in boxing) after 10-15 seconds?

When in a fight (boxing, UFC, street fight, etc.) how exactly do you get knocked out?
you might find the answer in here somewhere - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knockout

or here - http://www.bloodyknux.com/forum/archive/...
Reply:Two things that can knock someone out when fighting:

1. The brain is shaken, and it is called concussion. A hard blow to the head can cause concussion.

2. Extremely pain, for example, the blow hits sensitive areas, such as eyes, breast (girls), stomach, and male external sex organs, particularly scrotum.

How come when ever people street fight?

They look like they suck a lot? Even if they are big, look at felony fights, they just SUCK. It's not like watching Randy the natural, or Chuck lidell, I never thought it'd be so hard for someone to simply Punch someone in the head, they flail around and miss like crazy.

How come when ever people street fight?
As a "trained" fighter who has competed at the highest level, I laugh when I hear people who have never trained a day in their life say they know how to fight. You cannot know how to fight by watching it on TV or by playing a video game, and you don't know how to fight just because you have been in some bar fights, schoolyard brawls, or street corner scuffles.

Why do professional fighters train so hard to prepare for a fight? Because that is what you have to do to truly be a fighter and to know what you are doing.

The reason street fighters miss so much is that they have their eyes closed. I am serious. They have their eyes closed and cannot see what they are swinging at. They also forget to breathe and that is partly why street fights seldom last longer than a minute. The other part is what was mentioned before - They don't train to fight, so they are not in shape to last very long.

Fighting is not easy. It takes a lot of hard and painful work to become a fighter. There is no short cut you can take to become a fighter like Couture or Lidell. It takes dedication, hard work, sacrifice, pain, suffering, heart, perseverance, drive, strong will, and pushing yourself to keep going when everything in you says I can't go another second.

Being a fighter is one of the toughest and least rewarding endeavors there is.

Fighting isn't for everyone, that's why God created Chess.
Reply:It is very much like hitting a baseball with a bat. It takes lots of practice.

It is a developed skill. Perfect practice makes for perfect execution.

People that have no training and feel they could easily jump in the octagon are sorely mistaken. These are the same couch athletes that watch football and say "I could do that."
Reply:The biggest thing is the pro fightes have been trained in fighting. Most people don't even know how to throw a decent punch without being trained. Street fights wind up being a lot of clutching and grabbing or some guys throwing big haymaker punches that don't connect. Your typical person doesn't know how shift his weight when throwing a punch or how to throw combination of punches rather than just one big haymaker.
Reply:Because like anything the street fights are not organized. These guys are just swinging to swing...now then you have underground street fights like Kimbo Slice that makes street fights look like a work of art....until he meets Mercer of course.
Reply:We are so used to seeing movie fights or professional fights that when we see normal people fighting it looks stupid.

Most people are not trained to fight. Even less are experienced fighters. It's one thing to throw a punch at a stationary object like a punching bag. It's another thing to punch someone who's moving around and is also trying to punch you. Even in boxing or martial arts fights where both opponents are using generally the same style, there are a lot of missed punches or kicks.

There's a lot to consider when you're fighting. You need to be in the correct range for whatever you want to do. If you're too far or close, you'll miss. You need to be balanced. If you swing a punch too hard %26amp; miss, you might fall over and look stupid. You need to aim properly, etc. If you want to know more, try to do some martial arts or boxing. You'll understand why people miss so much.
Reply:the truth of the matter is that 90% of people on the streets cant fight. plus as a martial artist we tend to avoid street fights since we feel that we dont have to prove anything to anyone. if everyone fought like Randy and Chuck then they would not be superior athletes and you wouldnt respect their game as much as you do.
Reply:Because people who train in martial arts have an outlet for their aggression - either by learning how to have enough discipline to control it, or by having an organized place where they can fight. No point in dirty street fighting (not that there really is a point anyway).
Reply:For on thing professional fighters don't get much into streetfitghts, the more you train and the better you get, the less you fight on the street, they just know better.

The idiots you see fighting don't have proper training, so they just swing, with no technique. Sometimes you see guys really kicking butt, and you can tell they know something, guys picking up their opponents and taking them down easily are wrestlters, guys with their hands up and throwing nice punches usually are boxers, guys who take the fight to the ground purposely and pull guard automatically and jiu-jitsu practicioners, I've never seen a streetfight with a muay thai practicioner, that would be very painful for his opponent. I saw a big guy taking on a smaller guy who happened to be an MMA fighter, the big guy got destroyed.

Streetfighting is a ticket to jai, fighters know this, and if you are skilled you can easily hurt, and even permanently disable a person, or kill him.
Reply:If you can't answer this one for yourself then you might have problems with 2+2.

Maybe you could hire nancy drew to figure it out.
Reply:Simple. Most people, even big tough people do not know how to fight. Even those who fight a lot don't generally pay any attention to what they are doing. That is part of why so many street fights end up on the ground, neither of the participants really know what they are doing. That does NOT mean that they can not be dangerous.
Reply:Ive been told this twice in my life when ever for instance you get into it in a bar remain calm most guys in bars smoke and drink all day so usually they scream holler and throw wildly so if the guy is not big or built unload a 2 piece in the center of his chest and he will go down most of the time when that happens to them they will stop and you really dont get hurt me and you both know when you get the wind knocked out of you you get scared
Reply:yeah, you need training for your attacks to hit and a lot more for the to hurt.

I know what you mean, I've seen total noobs with no training go at it and swing wildly, leaving lots of good openings that the other noob doesn't go for
Reply:Allow me to differentiate between UFC between street fighting.

The UFC has rules to govern what one may/may not do.

Street fighting does not.

UFC participants have trained and conditioned themselves for years.

The sum of Potatohead's "training" was back in high school when he bullied other kids.

The purpose of UFC is to win- within the established parameter of rules.

The purpose of a street fight is to win at any cost- even hurting or killing the other person.

UFC fighters train to fight in a very specific way. They don't do "streetfighting"! Yes, the UFC is more brutal than boxing matches or MA tournaments, but it's still a competition. There are still rules. And UFC fighters train to fight within thsoe rules.

Don't get me wrong- if a UFC guy got into a street fight, I would bet on him. He knows how to hurt people- badly. But most people (at least most people that are stupid enough to get into a street fight) have no such training and don't really care.

A fight is messy and unpredictable. Emotions and adrenaline run high, so it's a lot easier to miss and to mess up. And generally, anything goes.

That's why you won't see the average ****** fighting like what you see in the UFC.
Reply:I gues they thought the person didn't belong on their street. You can tell when someone not only does not have a passport or a green card, but he is an illegal.

Does he live anywhere? That is the question, and does he know he's there?

Have you ever seen a street fight?

How old were them?

I saw a fight yesterday between two 20 year old young men, was terrible....

I saw a fight yesterday between two 20 year old young men, was terrible....

Have you ever seen a street fight?
Well a couple of years ago in Luton we had a huge gang fight at one of the popular parks. It was between some Asian British and African British people, i will say around 30-40 odd in each side. One person was killed called Kamran. His funeral was so huge that they had to hold it in a local park which was huge. Over 500 people arrived... It was a great funeral especially since i used to know Kamran :(

A few years ago after his death Shaid Afridi came to Wardown park, Luton to have a match with some of our players (he got owned in the first ball). This was as a memory of him.

Azeem

R.I.P KAMRAN.

P.S. there is a fight in Luton every other weak which are considered street fights. I hate some parts of Luton but others are actually quite nice areas. We have some very nice historic sites and an excellent mall which is always stacked :D and lots of people inside at once.
Reply:yes was traumatized for a week.
Reply:been in them...
Reply:been in one.. but we teenagers fighting because these punks where being pervs to our friends...
Reply:i see them at school, i guess its a street fight. there quite cool
Reply:at the local night club there are allways fights between 18 year olds and they carry bottles and knifes its really dangours
Reply:yes between 20 hot guys i nearly fainted
Reply:yes. about 20 or 21 yr olds. It was quite entertaining.
Reply:yeah i used to take part in them at the arcade ken and ryu was allways kicking off
Reply:was you afraid oh dear it must have been terrible for you naughty young men
Reply:Yeah it was 2 men with one carrying a knife.

then police cars came down the street.

that was before school around 8:30 am.
Reply:Yeah between my Bf and my best guy friend. 17 and 18.
Reply:I've seen some wild mosh pits before, but i was never in them
Reply:i saw dude walking with his buddies and some random guy decked him in the jaw, so the guys buddies beat the holy hell out of him.
Reply:its a bit like a crash you just have to look
Reply:Yes I have seen them!! And it's pretty funny what they fight over!!
Reply:i seen people fight but the streets round here never fight ...unless its when were all in bed and we dont see it
Reply:Ya I have this friend that is really skinny and talks crap to ALLOT of people and one day he said it to this big thug who was like huge and the guy punched him in the face and knocked him to the ground and repeatedly punched him in the face and ran away.
Reply:Nope, but I have seen road rage.
Reply:i grew up in Chicago in the 70's if you didn't see a street fight it was rare because of street gangs...once i was sitting in a seventh grade class this guy came in with a car antenna a slashed another guys cheek wide open its not like you see on television
Reply:Ive seen alot. Guys and girls young and old. This summer there was this chick fight that lasted for like 20 minutes before the cops got there. It was awesome.
Reply:yes and it made me physically ill...I was at a club and two guys went at it in line...I left.
Reply:Yes, sorry to say in my younger days I got into fights. Violence never solves anything. Only good for self defense.
Reply:Monday night, I wouldn't call it a fight tho. A lad was curled up in the road and the other was kicking the sh!t out of him. It was awful. The police station was just down the road so I pulled in. Luckily a policeman was just getting out of his car. I told him, and he went straight away. I hope they caught the b@stard!
Reply:I saw a street fight in Dublin City centre a few years ago. It was between two Chinese guys over a restaurant district. It was on the news and I read about it later. Two dead and one thrown out of a car in a busy street. He survived. I saw it in the restaurant. A shout. Those swords which looked like 2000 years ago in Japan or China. You know it was so very very shocking and sad.Emotion and a feeling over what is right and wrong caused it.. Maybe even Chinese mafia. Nobody really knew. But in the end it was shown to be wrong and a base human instinct. Fear! What a shame. What a loss of not two lives but four. They are still in prison. When I saw it I just stood still in shock! They came into the restaurant like some movie stunt and started flying with the cleavers against the owners or manager or somebody.. Mmmm I remember that so well and it shudders me!
Reply:the real quistion should be how many street fights have you seeen ?
Reply:I've been in a couple and have seen many. Now days, when a fight brews, I simply get as far away as possibly. Folks now carry guns and will not hesitate to open fire and I will be damned if I take a bullet that was intentionally meant for someone else.

Anyway, the last street fight I witness was about two years, in the middle of the busiest streets in the downtown area. The two guys almost got hit several times by oncoming cars. They look like they may have been in their early 20s.
Reply:Many. Anyone who has a street fight with a stranger is risking their life.
Reply:I was one,I used to do it for fun!Time and ageing slows you though!
Reply:Yup, seen them, been in a few myself.

Its for scumbags basically! Ill try and walk away, but unfortunately some sad cases with no self respect wont let you do that, so you end up fighting.

Its demeaning really, it makes you look like an ignorant, ill bred, no hope thug.

Thats what i see when i see two guys going at it, theyre either too stupid, inarticulate, insecure or lacking in pride to see what ***** they look1

I never got any pleasure out of it, luckily i always came out on top or evens and was never hurt.....but it made me feel like a pr1ck, even though i never started a street fight.

Ive seen people of all ages street fighting, from 13 year old kids, to teenage girls, to middle aged men....its all very common in Croydon, Streatham etc where i lived for years.
Reply:yep in parts of scotland they fight all the time and I mean all time ..strange place as the people are the nicest and definitely the friendliest I ever met to strangers...but a lot of them dont seem to like each other much though sometimes taking over half an hour to finish a scrap

Anyone here been in a street fight that knows a martial art?

If you have tell me what martial art you know and what happened. Even if you lost tell me what happened. Everyone loses eventually. I got bored and just started wondering about martial artist getting in fights so i decided to post this question.

Anyone here been in a street fight that knows a martial art?
It looks like I am the only one who has ever lost a fight.
Reply:i have
Reply:Throughout school I was a bit small so I got beat up a lot I had a friend who's dad was very confident of his muay tai and ju-jitsu throughout High School I studied 4 arts including these and the immense physical training involved with juggling all 4 of these arts helped greatly in both in body mass and in tone, high school kids are generally not very smart so large usually deters conflict, I can think of a couple instances though where someone either drunk or full of pride has tried to show how tough he is only to end up in the hospital from a floating knee or torn ligaments, more often then knot I only have to use martial arts in sparring with my peers in a controlled setting. If you are trying to gear your question as to wether or not martial arts is applicable to someone fighting dirty, the answer is absolutely yes, the knowledge of center of gravity as well as the focus of energy in a strike plays a key role in placing attacks that more often then not will stop an oppenent quickly and effectively, in some countries forms of judo are used in place of firearms to subdue assailents, this is usually due to its effectiveness and the lack of firearms in these countries.
Reply:i have. i won. because he threw a punch at me! so i threw him on concrete! LOL. n i am in judo!! :p

come on judo is great for street fighting if not, WHY DOES THE U.S. GOVERNMENT USE IT FOR THE BASIS OF OUR SOILDERS!!
Reply:Yes. I take Jeet Kune Do at a place that uses over 30 different martial arts styles. We learn stand-up, ground, close quarters, weapons (knife, stick, gun, OC spray), fight psychology, and mass attack. The mass attack helped when I was jumped by 3 guys and a girl a few years ago in high school. I have to agree that just understanding center of gravity, centerline strikes and locks mixed with holds are great for real life situations.
Reply:yes i have been in fights. and yes i won the fight with my Aikido training. it was really a no contest. but if you really think about it we both lost, he lost the fight but i lost the battle meaning i shouldnt have even got to that point to want to fight
Reply:Yeah, i got attacked by an angry 40 year old guy when i was 16 because his son lost a scrap to me. He spent the night in hospital for cuts to the face, i spent the night in my warm bed. At the time i had trained for 7 years in kickboxing and 1 year in boxing.
Reply:Yep. When I took Tae Kwon Do for several years, I nearly got owned in a back alley fight, until I reverted back to my boxing.

If you want to kick *** in fighting, learn boxing, Not Muay Thai. Real boxing.

If you want to kick *** period, learn judo or jiu jitsu or both!

Don't learn it to be a bad ***. To do so makes you my enemy.
Reply:Wrestled in high school, 3 yrs. Have been in several fights in my younger years, they all went the same way. Shoot, takedown, sit on guy, punch him until the bouncers come.

People often make the mistake of thinking that grappling just means 'fighting on your back'.

In reality, anything with alive training will teach you how to react in a real situation way better than kata. The closest you can come right now is the MMA ring, but you can get good at fighting via boxing, wrestling, bjj, muay thai, sambo, judo, and some others.

Good technique on how to win a street fight?

go 2 a bad skoo fulla gangs and fights i already no how to fight but i want othrs opinion..like were to position your fist, good technique, takedowns, one hitter quitterz, n how to deal wit da fast heartbeat n shaken n da hands n legs aka(flight or fight)aka(adrenaline rush)

Good technique on how to win a street fight?
Note to Woohoo: There isn't a fighting section on YA, and at least some carryover of skills. Some regular boxers/coaches can provide advice here to those who do it "for real."

Best way is not to do it at all. Then you have two winners and no loser. But, you state you are in a situation where you have to fight. Hopefully, you do it as infrequently as possible, try to avoid it when you can, and when you have to fight, there is at least someone who checks both fighters for weapons, and enough friends of each to make sure it doesn't turn into a jumping.

I suggest starting in a classic boxing stance with both fists in front of the face and both elbows in front of the ribs, the weaker hand slightly forward. You use the same principle for your feet, with the heel of the back foot raised. Most fights will start with punches, and if you want to start with a kick, the same stance works. Circle around and look for an opening before throwing anything. Trade punches and kicks until you sense your opponent weakening. Then wade into him. The best takedown (for this kind of fight) comes from struggling until you get behind your opponent, then getting him into a headlock and working his face to the ground. His middle will probably be raised, which lets you get him in a body scissors. Work him hard in both the headlock and scissors until he is ready to give way, then (and only then) roll him to his back and get him in a schoolboy pin (your knees on his shoulders, his head at your mercy and his arms out to the side and ineffective). Pound away at his head until he quits or loses consciousness.

In every fight, expect to go to ground. Don't look for a KO, but if you see an opening and can get to his throat (best with the open hand), temples (forehead over the eyebrows), side of the head in front of the ear, Xiphoid process (the little bit of matter between the middle ribs), balls or mid-thighs, these are areas in which one strike can knock out or seriously disable an opponent. Just don't let your guard down after striking, because you might not do it right and he might not be going down.

As for the adrenaline rush, don't worry about it, accept and use the fast heartbeat. It will have you super-alert and ready for whatever is coming at you. Try to steady yourself and keep your eyes on your opponent's face. By concentrating on him and your desire to get the better of him, you should eliminate the shaking. If not, just go ahead. Once your arms and legs are in motion, you will either stop shaking or just not notice it any more.

Always know when to stop, which is when your opponent is clearly beaten, and good luck to you.
Reply:why do people always come to the boxing section for street fights??? just asking
Reply:if your hands and legs are shaking you would be best not to fight at all because if you are trembling like a scared rabbit your gonna get beaten badly sorry to be blunt but you sound like a guy that bes not fight.but if you must fight try a headlock and maybe you can shake his teeth out
Reply:put your hands up by your cheeks and turn your body into all your punches for power. i wouldn't go for the takedown unless you have good wrestling experience because it could backfire on you. and also use your adrenaline as anger like picture they just raped your chick or something so u can use dat adrenaline for more power and speed

Im 24 and im looking to train in all types of fighting?

i would like to find a trainer in the Charlotte area to teach me the ropes, i love to fight and i would rather do it legal then street fight like i used to back home in MI, so if someone could help me find a trainer or a training camp around Charlotte NC that would be real helpfull since im new to the area

Im 24 and im looking to train in all types of fighting?
Here's a list of some gyms in the Charlotte area:

http://www.angelfire.com/nc3/ncmma/Train...

You might want to train a year in Boxing, Karate or Kick boxing before joining a MMA gym. That way you have a good base in an art before you begin hardcore training.

Mario would win by throwing his trusted wrench, and cut Elmo's head off, and then burn Dora's backpack until she cried enough tears that she drowned herself.

Martial arts in street fight?

Just curious as to what moves you martial artist have (successfully) used in a real fight, I tried using tecniques I learned at the dojo, but just ended up scappy :( any input/thoughts/experiences would be appreciated, cheers

btw- my expereince includes mui thai, tkd, wing chun, a little bjj...

Martial arts in street fight?
The only real altercation i was in, i was hammederd drunk, and a guy was running at me throwing a punch, as a white belt in tkd i learned 8 movements to block and counter a punch, learned it on my second day, and the first movement is what i did, side block and punch and the guy was out like a light, should have stopped after two days of classes, the next 6 years of my life was a waste (only a joke)
Reply:BJJ is the best. start of with a kick to the leg if you have good kicking techniques. Those will hurt the person. Next drop them go full mount and whail away..
Reply:i prefer the 1 hit ko techniques

i dont know if you know my style

my favorite is a roundhouse to the face at full speed(no need for control if they are attacking you)

they wont get up from that

just for clarification i believe the best way to ensure a successful hit is to be so fast they cant even tell you are attacking before they get hit
Reply:Fake side kick to the leg (knee or even ankle)... and when he lowers his hands instinctively to block or catch your leg you side-kick him in the head. It only will work if executed really fast because the energy that will go into the final kick must start generating from the fake kick... Practice with partner many times before trying that in street fight!
Reply:If you truly want to learn a martial art for self defense and street fighting, then look at combat styles taught to special forces like krav maga or kung fu san soo. You will be taught skills to end a fight and disable your attacker in under 5 seconds. You won't learn to dance around and be an acrobat, you will learn to be a fighter and warrior. There will no tournaments or competitions, only survival fighting, but you will have to study and work very hard to become a master.

In a real street fight or mugging you must learn to strike as a coiled rattlesnake, without thinking, in a nanosecond to leave the thug as disabled as possible so you can escape in one piece and the thug in agony waiting for an ambulance to take him to the hospital with broken bones and joints. There are no rules to follow in a real confrontation.

I decided to get combat training from 2 street fighter masters after I was attacked several times . One time me and a friend and his girlfriend were out at a pizza bar drinking and came out to the parking lot, got in the car and it wouldn't start. All of a sudden this drunk punk appears holding one of the battery cables, laughing and scaring us and said he was gonna beat us all up. I was in the back seat and he told me to roll down the window, which I did because he intimidated us. He started pushing my face and putting his finger, snapping my cheek. At that time, I was a 17 year old kid afraid with no combat training. luckily he had no guns or knives and finally he let us go.

But now after the training if that same incident occured, I realized that because he was in my strike zone, which is within an arms length, I would have had the advantage. In a nano second, I would have grabbed his finger in my face, broken it to disable and to distract and then with my other hand in an other nanosecond, I would have struck his throat or windpipe, strike a full blow to break his nose, thrust my 2 front fingers in his eye socket or attempted to rip off his ear, whatever it took to get away. I didn't know how life threatening this dude was or if he had weapons to kill us or what. Also he was drunk but mean and sadistic, so there would be no mercy. Now I know this sounds brutal, but that's what you have to learn if you are attacked in the street. There is no time to spar or dance around with fancy kicks and forms and moves. If the attacker is in your strike zone, with the proper training, you will have the advantage and will strike in a nanosecond as a reflex as the coiled rattler does, the lynx or grizzly bear. In less than 3 seconds you must disable and leave the attacker in painful agony and knocked down so you can run ASAP. That's the kind of martial art to learn, krav maga or kunk fu san soo, combat training. You must learn as a barbarian. You will bite, scratch, pull hair, cream some dudes testicles if necessary, break a knee cap or jaw, whatever it takes to get away alive

Hope this helps, because that is the real world out there and the next thing is awareness. Learn not to be a victim and study where you are, where you go and when
Reply:I've used both judo throws and kung fu blocks and strikes in real fights, both being extremely effective for me and leading to the incapacitation of my attackers. Of course it depends on the practitioner, but all martial arts can be useful in a real fight. You just have to know how to apply it.
Reply:I think part of the problem is that people today expect to go into a class and learn something in an hour or two that they can use to beat up everyone on the street.

Remember that these arts were used for real life and death fighting, they were kids when they started learning and they trained hard every day. They practiced techniques thousands of times with increasing resistance and in different environments. Then, maybe after 5-10 years, they were ready to go to battle.
Reply:Martial arts are a way to do things, a blueprint.... Nothing will ever look or feel that clean in a real life or death situation.
Reply:The last fight I was in I used a comination of Aikido, Boxing and grappling. You can't go into a fight and say"this is what I am going to do". Instead you have to react to what ever they throw at you. Because the attacker could also be trained in fighting so you might walk into a punch or kick or even a takedown. Be ready for everything and use what you need.
Reply:You have to spar often in the dojo to make it work....If you spar often and do your road work regularly, you should have an edge in endurance and nerve in most situation.
Reply:all the boxing i learned and elbows i learned from karate nothing else i tried some wrist locks but i stopped cause it was clear they where going to hurt the guy and im not a dick (its strange you cant do locks without hurting people it sucks)
Reply:Fortunately I've neve had to defend myself too seriously recently - or since beginning my formal study of martial arts. Also fortunately, only a few of my students over the years have had to ( say 5 or 7 or so ).

Quick, effective, simple, and clean are the watchwords. You need to assess each situation individually and determine what will make most sense. All my students used their TaeKwon-Do skills for defense, and all reported simple techniques executed only one or two times were sufficient. Straight line, simple, attacks with hard weapons to soft targets that impacted the aggressor signficantly without causing permanent damage. Front snap kick, a palm heel strike to the jaw, and elbow to the ribs were some I remember.

Never something anyone WANTS to do - hopefully.

Would you fight shirtless in a bare-fist street fight?

Assuming you had time to choose, i.e., it's a planned, agreed fight and you are not simply jumped, would you get ready by stripping to the waist, keep your shirt on, or wait to see what your opponent chose to do? And, most importantly, why? (Give your reasons if you are looking for the 10 points!)

Would you fight shirtless in a bare-fist street fight?
To all you idiots who would rather leave your shirt on than safer yourself the moment of inflicting a very unexpected *** beating! You guys are complete ******* idiots and most likely don't know how to fight!

viciousvince2001 Take your shirt off and make sure you fight him in something you are comfortable in, like maybe some gym shorts. You want to be as comfortable as you can possibly be in a street fight, leaving your shirt on will not only expose you to worse situations but it simply makes your fight that much more difficult. Why do you think boxers do not wear them???? It's common ******* sense that it is a big NO NO!!!

Who cares what your opponent does, if he leaves his on then that is his problem and you had best take advantage of his self delusional mistake. It is a street fight so there is most likely no rules.

Make sure your shoes are on tight as you will be needing to catch leverage when placing your feet for a punch and with lose shoes it isn't good. Plus make sure you stretch before you go heads up with this cat.

Make sure you have no jewelry on or wrist watches and such take it all of. Pretend you are in a boxing match and it is a fight of pride and dignity, you must not show intimidation. Stay confident and let him talk his trash just don't listen.

When you fight this guy remember to utilize his body with punches don't forget the body!!!! Most people tend to forget that the body is a bigger factor in fights than the head. Too many headhunters don't realize that one good punch to the body is forever far better than one good punch to the head. Destroy his body then react when he is hurt to the head.

Give him a jab to the face and quickly react with a shot to the body, keep doing that through out your fight just to keep him at bay plus you will most likely hurt him if you use it accurately and not so much. I know this is a street fight but in all respect for all types of fighting methods, boxing is the best for a street fight.

I once knocked the **** out of some dude that claimed he was an MMA master, we fought in a street fight that was held at a local park. The dude tried so obviously to take me down by rushing me to grab my waist lol, I side stepped his *** and laid him out with one upper cut that not only gave him a black eye but I literally left him with a headache that he said lasted for 2 days lol.

Just remember don't let him intimidate you. Intimidation plays a big role in fighting because your inner core systems don't function as well when all your thinking about is whether you are going to survive or not! Mentally stay focused and pick your punches dance around and don't let him take you to the ground where things can really get gay lol

Good luck and if you need any more points hit me up via email.
Reply:I would fight my father because he is a horrible deuschebag that tries to control and manipulate people and taunts and beats people when they are weaker than him. He is a coward I would throughly enjoy another oppurtunity to punch him in the face.

Sorry, I thought this sad WHO would you fight.....

I would keep my shirt on if it was tight but if it was loose or heavy i would take it off.
Reply:i would keep my shirt on, and here's why. if they grab your shirt, you can get out of it and get some space between you and him. plus, while busy with your shirt, you can take a swing and go for a takedown to beat him on the ground. i'm a small guy and i need every advantage i can get. i'm 24 and only 5'2". i've used this tactic before and it has never failed me. just don't wear a favorite shirt, wear a second favorite shirt.
Reply:I would keep my shrt on, to avoid some scratches, but if I wanted to intimidate, I would definitely take it off. and all jewelry.
Reply:If it's a very good shirt and you can have someone hold it for you.

I had dozens of streetfights or what we just called brawls back then and I generally always kept my shirt on.

One reason is if I decide to depart half way through the fight I don't want to leave my shirt behind, or any evidence of me for the authorities.

From a fighting point of view tehncially it frees you up more but realistically being big and other guy being big it never slowed me down. If it got grabbed it would just be torn off us very easily. Sometimes they would still be on me other times they would be rags hanging by a few threads.

I never bothered taking it off first since I felt silly doing it I guess.:)
Reply:keep it on.

if you are shirtless then oponent can see your weak points such as ribs. wear shirt that is a bit baggy so its so hard for him to getta good aim for bodyblows(think what if he had a knife). when the opponent grabs your shirt, pull yourself back away from him and quickly punch or elbow him in temple. he is beating your shirt but you are beating his brain.

good luck
Reply:Yes. I've pulled my shirt off every time there has been time. I've seen to many shirts pulled up over the head and then you take a beating just like in hockey.
Reply:i would take it off because then if he or she gets you by the shirt, they can put it over your head and then bomb on you
