How practical is "Kalayari payattu" when you are facing a real street fight?

I am not a big martial art guy but I have a great desire to study how they will help us in modern day life, especially during street fights which is not rare in where I used to live. By going through the stack of martial arts and their teachers one used to argue that this traditional village martial art called "Kalayari payattu" in India is a very practical approach to defense ourselves against an opponent on the street since other martial art styles (Karate, Wushu ... ) has become just "sport" events rather than form of self defense techniques or combat styles. Therefore I need your guys opinions to figure out the truth behind it.

How practical is "Kalayari payattu" when you are facing a real street fight?
Why not try Jeet Kune Do or MMA... they are actually well rounded
Reply:i see you are Indian , and you would prolly be most turned on to do this martial art. but if you want my opinion , witch is also the opinion of most professional cage fighters. the 2 best martial arts out there are probably Brazilian jiu jitsu , and kick boxing muay thai. BJJ is for the ground game , and kickboxing is the most versatile standing martial arts in the world.
